Forza 2 hitting the track in May

In a brief and somewhat enthusiastic e-mail, Microsoft has today announced that Forza Motorsport 2 is expected to come roaring out of the development pits in May, straight into the open arms of driving enthusiasts. It could get messy, but getting down to the nitty-gritty and tweaking speeding hunks of metal until they reach peak performance is what the game is all about.
The official site has also been updated with a full track listing, which includes such exotically named locales as Nürburgring Nordschleife, Sunset Peninsula Infield and, err, Test Track. If you still crave satisfaction and insist on doing everything you can for za motorsport (OOF!), consider purchasing two more Xbox 360s and indulging in ludicrous, triple screen immersion (as seen above).

Ridiculous to go to the point of three screens. But awesome none the less...
Saneless @ Jan 26th 2007 2:07PM
Yeah, 3 screens is a bit much, but it sure beats the 0 screens Sony's newest racer is running on.
Jake @ Jan 26th 2007 2:13PM
This game is going to rock, I can't wait. It is our Grand Turismo. A little more technically detailed and accurate, but with less cars. Great game nonetheless.
Damn, I only have 1 46" Sony rear projection LCD TV. What ever am I to do?
rrenna @ Jan 26th 2007 2:13PM
If you read the article it actually says you can hook up even more screens for a 360 degree view or a 4th one for a rearview if you wanted too!
Genius @ Jan 26th 2007 2:15PM
Wow, only took until the second post to start the Sony bashing.
glitched @ Jan 26th 2007 2:20PM
Just a quick "Did you Know?"...
Did you know that if you had 3 copies of GT4 and 3 PS2's and 3 Tv's you could also set up a tripple screen setup in your home? However getting the networking correct was anything but user friendly.
nothing against forza, I plan on buying it as well.
But while in college it was fun to borrow 3 projectors from the university library for some triple screen GT4 action.
Norm @ Jan 26th 2007 2:21PM
Actually Ridge Racer 7 for PS3 uses one screen, as does gripshift. =p
Matt @ Jan 26th 2007 2:21PM
Honestly, Joystiq needs to implement some sort of comment moderation system. The fanboyism is getting out of hand.
Kompressor @ Jan 26th 2007 2:25PM
Incredible, I've been waiting for this game to come out for months, I don't mind waiting until May, especially if this game turns out to be as awesome as forza 1
keep up the good work turn10
Jake @ Jan 26th 2007 2:28PM
Why would Joystiq block fanboy comments? They get credit for them and they spawn other fanboy comments. It is the way of the world. The only way you can help stop the spread of fanboyism is to not feed it. A lot of people ignore it and have nice discussions right in the midst of flamewars.

Or a decent used vehicle so you can enjoy a full 360 view. but thats just me.
Arglor @ Jan 26th 2007 2:42PM
wow three xboxes to have three screens going... wonder who profits off of that glorious expenditure of wealth.
Virtua Fanboy @ Jan 26th 2007 2:48PM
Wow, VF5, Forza 2, and Too Human all this summer. If they release some decent XBLA title to go with this'll be a good summer to have an Xbox. Of course I like to let off the gaming a little and go to the lake during the summer but still cool none the less.
Matt @ Jan 26th 2007 2:58PM
@ Jake
I don't necessarily think they should block them. I'd just like to have some kind of marker so that I could tell if a comment was another fanboy rant without having to read through. The star system worked OK, I'd like to see it somehow combined with a system like Engadget's so could could see both the quality of the poster and the individual post.
Saneless @ Jan 26th 2007 3:06PM
How is making fun of a bullying and insulting company positioning me as a fanboy? Hell I don't own any next gen systems.
Matt @ Jan 26th 2007 3:22PM
@ saneless
Because it adds nothing to any discussion about the actual article in question. There are a lot of people who come to this site that have very strong feelings about one particular console. Comments like yours only stir them up and derail the conversation from the actual topic.
As I mentioned before, I have no problem with people saying things like that. I just don't want to have to read through a bunch of mindless comments, that are wholly unrelated to the article, just to find the ones that are worth reading.
Revolution @ Jan 26th 2007 3:24PM
Oh, how badly I would like to play this game. I need a solid racer.
mo @ Jan 26th 2007 3:31PM
Fantastic. They CUT the amount of tracks from the original. It's a sequel for blimmin' sake. You are meant to add content, not take it away.
The major gripe about the original was the severe lack of tracks to race on. Excellent, so we now have to pay more to get a high-res version of the original game WITH less tracks?
/cancels preorder
Sean @ Jan 26th 2007 3:32PM
anyone notice that its a black xbox 360 he's using to play?
could this be the new xbox360??

It'd still be cheaper than a ps3 heh ;)
Jake @ Jan 26th 2007 3:39PM
@18
It isn't a hi-res version of Forza with several tracks removed. It is a hi-res sequel to Forza with all new tracks. The total number is lower than the original, but it is a different game. This isn't a GranTurismo HD thing. It is a new game.
It will have improved physics and graphics. It will have solid Live support and hopefully be better than the original in many other ways we don't know yet. If you like realistic racing games like Grand Turismo, then Forza2 will be well worth your money. It is even more realistic and more accurate in the technical details of tuning your car. It will have less tracks and cars to choose from, likely, but will be mostly superior to GranTurismo in most ways, just like Forza1 over GranTurismo.
Or, it could flop. You just never know.
wetsploogie @ Jan 26th 2007 3:41PM
Well they better not F up the VGA support on this one

The Dev Kits are black! Always have been.
Sacredleader @ Jan 26th 2007 3:51PM
@19. That black 360 is a Dev kit.
Tony @ Jan 26th 2007 4:01PM
Black Xbox 360s are the dev kits.
nate @ Jan 26th 2007 4:12PM
@ everyone...you could have 3-4 screen support with the original Forza....
ivanv4 @ Jan 26th 2007 4:19PM
Having triple screen setup with 3 xbox was possible with Forza 1. So is not that ground breaking.
Also in the official page they said it will be download content available in the future, so new tracks and cars will be available.
Bennyishere @ Jan 26th 2007 5:36PM
I was hoping for a March release...
Oh well, the more tweaked the better! I can't wait to get some next-gen Forza on with the Wireless Steering Wheel :D
lothar @ Jan 26th 2007 5:52PM
You could do the same 3 screen setup with the first Forza. I cant wait for this to come out even though I'm still playing Forza 1 on my 360. And it still looks great.
Sid Icarus @ Jan 26th 2007 6:11PM
I don't really think there are fewer tracks, I think there is more. I wouldn't count the autocross tracks from the original, some of those tracks were less then 100 feet long.
And this is the dawn of micro transactions. They are probably sitting on 3 or 4 original tracks as we speak.
swoopn6 @ Jan 27th 2007 12:30PM
good stuff...Forza 2 is going to be another killer app. We also have PGR4. DAMN!!
Jmoney @ Jan 28th 2007 7:44PM
"A final thought to keep in mind, and it's something I've already mentioned on the forums earlier this week, is that with reams of track reference data for much more than just these 12 environments, our track artists will continue to be working and cranking out content even after our game ships. In other words, expect downloadable content in the form of both tracks and cars in the months following FM2's release. Will it be free? We don't know and can't say for sure right now but whatever it ends up becoming, we at Turn 10 aim to do right by the community. Definitely no horse armor here, folks."
In other words....expect more than 12 tracks....
