Monster Madness: The Battle for Suburbia screens and trailer

New screenshots and a trailer for the in-development Xbox 360 game Monster Madness: The Battle for Suburbia were released yesterday. It looks a bit like Fuzion Frenzy and Dead Rising met in a dark alley, fought with each other for awhile, and then decided to team up and be friends.
The game features some added elements like players being able to combine items into more powerful weapons, and four-player cooperative gameplay (which we'd like to see a lot more of). Unfortunately one of the added elements doesn't appear to be "incredible looking graphics." The game is supposedly inspired by Zombies Ate My Neighbors, but looks more like Zombies Ate My Development Budget.

I saw this game on gamespot's on the spot and I thought it looked like fun. Definitely reminiscint of zombies at my neighbors.
The graphics are not as bad as this blogger feels. I hope he's not basing it on that HORRID encoded youtube video he posted. much sharper videos can be found elsewhere.....

I can't really tell IF its just the video or IF it really is bad graphics. The screenshots aren't spectacular BUT aren't too bad either. I personally think the game looks fun and I definately will be picking it up, at least for my son.

Go to the web site (http://www.monster-madness.com/) and watch the trailers there if you want to see something with decent encoding. That YouTube video is horrible.
Anyways it looks like it could be fun. The graphics aren't anything special but it might make up for them with the game-play. If this was an XBLA (which I am starting to think stands for Xbox Lame Arcade with the releases lately) game then the graphics would be fine. Zombies Ate My Neighbors was a very fun game on the SNES so if this is inspired by it that gives it a few pluses in my book.

Would be a great XBLA game, but it's never going to make it in the retail world.

man, a game inspired by Zombies Ate My Neighbors.
if its as fun as it looks, who cares about graphics.
it doesn't take great graphics to make a great game.
and this is the 360 we're talking about.
i'm sure the graphics will at least be 'not horrible'

It's obvious that Kevin was being sarcastic about the "incredible looking graphics" but I guess most of you don't understand sarcasm.

I'm so into this... I loved Zombies Ate My Neighbors and even the similar Herc's Adventures for PS1.
And to #6, James, how are the previous commenters not understanding? Looks to me like they all understood perfectly.

Yeah, a LONG trailer for this has been up on Live for quite some time and honestly I don't think it looked bad graphically. It certainly wasn't mindblowing, but it looked fun at least.
I was wondering why it largely seemed to be ignored. I never saw anyone talk about it until now. I too instantly thought of ZAMN, which is a great thing. I hope it turns out.

inspired by? lets just call it exactly what a current generation version of Zombies Ate My Neighbors would look like. That game is probably my favorite game of all time, and seeing something like it seeing the light of day gets me very excited.
Sjohn @ Jan 27th 2007 12:20AM
Yeah sadly the video didn't stand up really well to YouTube, you can go to the read link or just go here for some more screens and videos, for the videos you'll have to register an account but that just takes a minute.

Oh man, a 4 player co-op Zombies Ate My Neighbors Redux? That could almost sell me on a 360.
Whitster @ Jan 27th 2007 8:27AM
I second what #9 said. Zombies is still my favourite game across all consoles and so I eagerly await this title.
2 player Zombies was the most fun i've had on a console so if they can pull off four player it'll be an absolute gem of a game. Completely regardless of graphics. Zombies itself shows you dont need good graphics for an immensely enjoyable game.

Just a reminder, these are the same people who made the Burger King games!

Silly Bloggers... graphics aren't everything. And this is true for all of the new consoles not just the Wii. I don't have a 360 (or plans to get one), so I hope that they eventually decide to bring this to some other systems. It would probably sell well on the PSP and Wii.

Watch one of these HD videos before judging the graphics based on a blurry youtube vid.

Uhh... speaking of Zombies Ate my Developement Budget...
This game was made for about 750,000 dollars in 10 months. (Technically 7, as far as graphics are concerned). By Artificial studios with about 10 programers and, until recently, 4 in-house artists. Immersion Games, AS's sister company, (responsible for much monster and asset modeling, texturing, animating, etc.), is comprised of about 20 people... Sooo.... yeah... think about that.
Starfeuri @ Jan 28th 2007 12:10PM
uhm... no... they aren't...
Warpstone @ Jan 29th 2007 9:49AM
This game is available for pre-order from Gamestop for $59.99, but it comes with a free beanie! :P
If it were an XBLA game, I'd easily spend 800 points ($10) on it, but $59.99? I'll just wait for Castle Crashers for my 4 player co-op fun.
