I am holding off on the purchase of LTTP (and OOT when this comes out here in the US), even though I will probably end up purchasing all the Zelda games they bring out. I missed out on the Collector's Edition disc, and I refuse to pay over $50 for that. Because of this fact, I will complete my Zelda set on the Wii, just for the convenience that everything is in one place, and there's no need to bring back out the old stuff from the storage area.

Once we get a house, the consoles might have their space on the family room, but for now, they show up on a need to play basis.

I don't get it...why are they blowing their Zelda load so quickly?

I think that's the first time I've heard someone mention the word "quickly" in a discussion about Nintendo's VC release philosophy without being accompanied with the word "not".

Is there any known way to access the Japanese site from U.S. Wii's? I only got the system for the VC, and I would love to play the original Megami Tensei, even with my little-to-non-existent knowledge of Japanese.

here's my take on the VC thing and i know some of you can't argue with this.

I don't mind paying for the prices for the VC content at all considering I've been playing them for free on emulator's for the past 8 or so years of my life. I figure if I can get 5-12 bucks headed in the direction of the creators or developers I'm at very least paying for services rendered already.

Beats the hell out of feeding the EA giant.

5. If only I didn't have the other copies that were free/promotional or extra with other games/nintendo power... Oh well... Due to loyalty I shall just have to get another copy...

Wow, you probably mean spend your parents money. I don't know to many people that work for their own money, and pay the rent that would do something like that.

To each their own I guess. (Shrugs shoulders.) LOL

You're kidding, right? "Oh Noes, I spent $12 on OoT how ever am I supposed to make the rent this month?" I don't know that many people that wouldn't do something like that.

I've been trying to avoid buying a Wii but Ocarina and Mario Party (I actually like playing a board game on the computer-- hate them in real life) are making it very hard...

"I don't like the precedent of charging more for a VC release based on how much people want it or for its perceived quality."

supply and demand, baby, supply and demand. nintendo should charge as much as the market is willing to bear, anything less and they're not a profit oriented company.

Except that in this case, supply is infinite. There are only so many hardcore players who will spend 12 dollars on 2 generation old games.

I've been trying to NOT buy things on the VC unless I'm absolutely sure they are good, and/or I didn't own them before. Thats why I bought Mario64 (never owned it), why I'm gonna buy Mariokart64 (never owned it), and why I don't buy almost all the rest of the VC library.

8 bucks is too much to spend on R-type. 5 bucks is WAY to much to spend on gradius.

Cut all prices in half, and you've got a rabid VC consumer here.

Something isn't quite right with the translation put up. The official list says that it's Shin Megami Tensei, not Megami Tensei (真・女神転生). And it looks like that it isn't Mighty Boxing coming from Tecmo, it's Mighty Bomb Jack (マイティボンジャック) break the katakana like this (マイティ ボン ジャック) also boxing is ボクシング

I think I'll be interesting in downloading OoT for the Virtual Console if they actually put the initial Gold Cartridge release as the VC version. None of this green blood weak stuff, altered symbols and chanting-less Fire Temple. Otherwise I'm happy to just deal with my WW disc. The fact that Super Mario Brothers had the minus world kept in gives me hope that OoT will follow suit. I'll gladly rebuy my original play experience for one of my favorite games.

Though I honestly want Majora's Mask first because I don't actually own the gcn disc with that Zelda on it.

Heh. Thats like, $18 New Zealand dollars. I don't think I'd pay $18 for Oot when I could get it on the collectors disk..
