@SuicideNInja

You say you own a PS3, but yet in every post I see all you have to say is negative after negative about the PS3. Why did you buy it then? Or do you even own one? You sound like a disgruntled Xbox 360 fanboy.

Clearly you must have a reason you dropped
500 or 600 dollars on it?

If you give it about a month or two you will have plenty to play. Much more to play if you compare it to the same timeframe when the Xbox 360 launched.

I guess I'm one of the 5% that doesn't have wi-fi going with my 360 (too expensive and no real interest in getting online). Don't have any reason for an HD player of any kind either.

I actually did hook up the Wii wi-fi just to see what it was like (and it was free). I have no interest in VC games or surfing the net on it though. The weather channel has nice elevator music lol.

The 360 is a good console, but if it has upgrades coming, it's going to make me wish I had waited to buy it... I won't buy another one. Other people might now be waiting for the newer and better version to come out instead of purchasing now.

"After announcing record earnings yesterday in lieu of continued losses,"

Hmm, you made a mistake here Blake, you don't announce earnings instead of a loss, you announce earnings as either a profit or a loss, and their earnings are no record as they are similar to last year's earnings.

It is their revenue that is a record although it is a good sign that the loss is similar for much bigger revenues than last year as it means they are losing less per dollar invested and thus are closer to profitability.

As it is that first sentence does not make any sense.

well...I have to be honest. I was a PS3 basher until my father gave me one a week ago. I've been playing Resistance online and loving it.
I had the opportunity to take the Ps3 and trade it in for a 360 but felt no desire to do it. Even though there are good games coming for it, many of the best games for the 360 are PC ports or FPS games or PC ports of FPS games. So I'm waiting for a bit to see how it all turns out later this year

@zsavior
You're on point. I agree %100.

I can see why the 360 isn't moving as fast as expected. For many people, a wireless adapter is a must, that is an extra 100 bucks on top of the 400 investment. After using the Wavebird, I wouldn't go back to a wireless controller and doubt that many people would prefer wired. Add that to the price, along with the live subscription AND a bigger harddrive. Face it, if you are downloading demos, movies and TV shows...a 20 GB harddrive is a fucking joke.

And yes...add the mem card because as many people have learned, it's sucks hard when your harddrive fails and you lose that 120 hour Morrowind save and that ESPN 2k5 perfect season.

I'll stick with the PSWii for now.

I have all three consoles right infront of me. they are all great. ps3 has weak games right now of course, but all 3 systems started off with weak games. ps2 also started off with weak games (fantavision).
the xbox has taken a full year to get something exclusively GREAT ( gears). the wii still has NO exlusively great games. and the ps3 has a few playable games and one good game. ps3 is also a very sturdy (huge) and well built machine, much like a nice car, expensive but well built and powerful. xbox 360 has it's ups and downs, lots of downs recently with hardware, but it's still powerful just not as luxurious as ps3. and the wii, is like a go kart. it's realllly really unique and fun. but it isn't enough in the end and won't get you very far. I love the wii but it feels like an oversized DS lite with one screen. all the games will mostly be mini games and it is overpriced for what the hardware and software actually is. and it sucks to think; the wii's graphic capability (although not important presently) in 3 years, will barely be interesting compared to PC/ps3/xbox360. It will still be a generation behind, like having ps1 graphics today. Not that graphics are the most important thing, but attraction to a game consists a lot on the visuals of the game.

I think the 360 isn't selling as well as they had hoped is because it is to expensive and it lacks diversity. Sure, it looks really good compared to the ps3, but its best games are almost all shooters and most people are expecting a price drop sometime soon(four hundred dollars is more than many are willing to pay).

Hell, even I'm holding off getting a 360 until it seems like it has good games that aren't shooters.
Getting a premium for $300 would be awesome.

I knew someone was going to hit me with the LEDs and Guide button. That isn't new functionality- 3 more LEDs and an extra button in the middle doesn't justify the cost.

But you got me with the rumble. Always slips my mind. The rumble feedback MIGHT be worth $10 extra bucks. But....nah.

Big companies force retailers to purchase more product all the time. Especially if they have antoher product that sells well. It's called leveraging your inventory. Once you sell the product and recieve a Purchase order, the money is yours. Now you can send the unsold stock back to the supplier with a bill for the unsold goods. However with a company like Microsoft you wouldn't want to do that and risk Microsoft giving your competitor a better deal.

The retailer wants the other product so company X says well if you want 500 of that product then you also have to carry 400 of the other product even if you only wanted 300.

Nike does that crap all the time and so does Microsoft. DO you actually think that a lot of retailers really wanted to carry the Zune and dedicate a whole lot of shelf space when it could have been used for more Ipod accessories. No, its because Microsoft gave them lots of incentives. ie discounts off of the PO or other monetary incentives.

Why do you think places like Big Lots and Value City end up with well known name brand goods. It's the extra inventory that retailers were forced to carry that they know would never sell. Rather than piss off the supplier, retailers sell the goods to discount chains to get some money out of it.

@Jeff

Neither are doing THAT well, but at this point in the ps3s lifecycle they are pretty easy to find. At the same point in the Xbox360's life it was in extremely short supply. So you can argue that the light sales on 360 at that time were due to the drought, you can't say the same thing about the ps3.
