Absolutely not Sony's decision. While I can't really go out and confirm this, putting Future Shop and Best Buy together can only lead to one thing, retailer decision. Considering Future Shop is owned by Best Buy.

I can assure you the price is still $659.99 CDN at most retail stores like Wal-Mart and Superstore. Heck, even the Sony Store is still selling it for $659.99 CDN

$699.99 Canadian Dollar makes $593.1113 U.S. Dollar.

I realize this is Xbox 360 fanboy.. and I am as much an Xbox 360 fanboy than the next guy.. but really.

I too agree that it's probably a retailer decision. But I still find it good that people talk about it, for the simple reason that people will know not to buy it at those 2 retailers.

I know that these store are the place most people go when buying electronics, so I'm sure the console was selling well there and they simply decided to Screw their customers. So now, thankfully, it blew up in their face. :D

Maybe the $50 off the PS3 was an effort to move these systems early, but why would you do that if they will all sell out?

They really only sold out on the first wave, but I'm sure most retailers expected it to continue to sell out. I am still in disbelief every time I see PS3's in stock. Every store I'm in has units.

Both Futureshop and BestBuy have a price matching program (Match and beat by 10%). I suspect this is just a mistake

Sell out? I'm in Canada and my local wal-mart has 5, but there are no Wii's or 360's.

Both Futuershop and Best Buy had better hope that it's a mistake or Sony could turn around and say.. "no more consoles for you." Like it would matter at this point. Who knows THAT's what's they might be trying to do because it's the only sure way to get rid of the bloody things.

futureshop and best buy often raise prices half of what they will go on sale for the following week to make sales look bigger. Like recently they had a sale on a HD-PVR which used to cost $499 for 2 years, then they bump it up to $599 for no reason at all, a week later its on sale for $299, and they get to say "SAVE $300".

They might be planing a sale for the ps3s next week, bringing them down to $599. This way they can say "SAVE $100" and not $50

Either that or they really are increasing the price... But somewhere, theres gonna be some1 selling it for the original price, and every retailer has a price match + 10% of the difference garuntee, so in the end, this will become a $5 savings for customers once they do the price match.

Alright guys I'm Canadian so I'll tell you what ppl over here say about PS3. "Ye PS3 has 7 seven processors but the 360 only has 3." and i hear "Ye my friend told me that the PS3 is four times stronger than the 360 that's why it costs so much." People are under the impression that because it costs so much, its the best one.

Also, no one I no has bought it yet. I dunno if its jus my locatoin (Toronto) but the PS3 is like a mythical console that i literally have not seen being played once. (it was at best buy, but for some reason unplayable). All in all, despite fan loyalty ppl all around me are turning to the 360 as the go-to console.

Longlive Dreamcast 2. And I mean that positively.

No no no no no no no...

The difference between $659 and $699 is $40.... $659 does NOT equal $650... Does that idiotic ".99" pricing structure really work on all of you people?

I know this is Xbox360Fanboy, but in Canada the 360 Core and Premium has been selling for $399CAD and $499CAD respectively since launch. That's a 30 dollar phantom price hike for Premium and a massive 45 dollar increase for Core over their $299USD/$399USD prices in the states. Is anyone complaining about that?

At $699CAD, the PS3 is in line with exchange rates, while the Wii at $279.99CAD is a steal, with Canadian customers actually SAVING 15 dollars. In fact, the only major console manufacturer to continue gouging Canadian customers is Microsoft.

If anyone wants to question my bias, I've had an Xbox360 since March 2006. I don't have a PS3 or a Wii.
