Cellius, the too-cleverly named start-up between Sony and Namco, will definitely have the power of Ken Kutaragi on its side as it pours big dollars into developing kick-ass PS3 games. Kenny K is now to spend half his time as Chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment and the other half as Executive Director at the upstart developer. Even more interesting is news that Cellius will provide content across all of Sony's platforms, including PCs (Vaio), handhelds (PSP) and phones (Sony-Ericcson). Hopefully, they'll start with the PS3.A generic lumping of analysts, press and industry pundits believe that the assignment of Kenny K to Cellius is a desperate attempt to shore up relations with key developers -- like Namco-Bandai -- and bring some exclusives back into the PS3 fold. Personally, we think that Sony is just trying to give Kenny K something distracting to do so they can get the PS3 moving full-steam ahead.
Either way, let's hope it works.
