Hey, I live in Torrance!
The National Sports Bart used to be a restaurant called "The Velvet Turtle" where my parents had their wedding reception!
I'm not going though, cuz I think football video games are stupid and pointless.

The prize seems awfully small for the entrance fee. You'd think it'd be a factor of 2 or 3 times bigger.

The first rule of Madden is: you do not talk about Madden.

The second rule of Madden is: you do NOT talk about Madden!

@Zegim

obviously 2500 is more then 2-3 times the entry fee, what he means is, if there are like 75-100 people that enter at 100$ a piece there should be somewhere in the neighbourhood of 7,500$ in prize money, especially with those kinds of sponsores.

I've been to Counter-strike lans which costed under 10$ with maybe 75-80 people that had prizes in the thousands thanks to sponsors. (mostly ATI and Nvidea)

I've seen those numerous times. They're really common in Inglewood and Culver City. Never went to one, but it was kinda cool to see game tournies advertised so casually.

Zegim: Thank you for that impromptu math lesson; it was very enlightening. Where I come from mathematics considered to be an evil, hateful thing. I had no idea that 2500 is bigger than 300! Under your wise and venerable gaze, I'm sure I'll be doing lots of wizardly things with those number doohickeys in no time! And then after that you can teach me to dress myself, and maybe even how to tie my shoes! Oh happy day!

Where are you guys (comments) getting $100. $40 in advance means you pay 40 if you enter early and the $60 is if you enter at the door. You don't add these 2 things up.

#14- Thank god somebody pointed that out to these people.

I was wondering the same thing as you; where on earth is this $100 entrance fee coming from? Doesn't anybody actually read the entire posts before they start commenting on it? It was perfectly clear to me. And I would expect people that comment at a gaming site would be very familiar with the concept of pre-paying for something and the benefits it sometimes has. How many times are we lured to preorder games?

"First time calling the machine answered and told us that if we were calling about the Madden Tournament it was $40 in advance AND $60 at the door."

The way I read it is you pay $40 now and $60 later for a $100 total. Ortherwise it should read "$40 in advance OR $60 at the door."

lol @ 16. Nice work Klinko, I'm actually laughing at work

To everyone else. $40 in advance or $60 at the door seems most reasonable, but the way its written, it could be interpreted either way. There's no grammatical error here though as far as I can tell

ill trooper: My point in my first post was that the prize should be bigger by a factor of 2 or 3 times what it currently is, not two or three times the size of the entrance fee. I thought that was pretty obvious.

Going by the $40 OR $60 interpretation, then the prize would match the entrance fee (perhaps slightly on the low end).
