God of War II nears completion
Sleep deprived and rambling a bit, God of War II director Cory Barlog updates us on the status of Sony's sequel. Yesterday, Barlog blogged, "it is safe to say that all of the primary work for God of War 2 has been completed." What's left is the final QA testing, suggesting that Kratos is on schedule for his projected March return -- what's being billed as PlayStation 2's swan song.Barlog also spends a few words defending God of War II's quick weapon-switch, which has apparently been targeted by Devil May Cry faithful. "Some call it stealing; I call it realizing when something works," argues Barlog. Hey, if it ain't patented, trademarked, or copyrighted, it's fair game.

Boss battles look GREAT! The sense of scale represented in the boss battles really put God of War (1) at the top of my list, and as long as the story doesn't double-tarantino us, i'm as good as sold

Looking good, but these scripted moves kinda dumb.
make the player remember them instead of showing which button to click and when. we need something like mortal combat system. 10 keys in special order all memorized and pressed in the right moment!
I think ninja gaiden is more or less like this, and yeah fast weapon switch kinda nice add on.

They have Heavenly Sword and the often rumored, never confirmed, downright confirmed given Jaffe's statements at the Playboy party, but still incredibly unofficial GOW3 coming to PS3.
Besides, Sony knows PS2 is still a cashcow and that's why they still have 20+ games in development for it.

Just 'cause Sony is publishing this one doesn't necessarily mean it's all up to them. I think the developers just wanted to stick with the PS2 this time. I could be wrong.

There's a reason why this is on PS2 instead of PS3. They're not fucking up. Why would they release a game on a system that has a userbase of around 2 million, when they can release it on a system with at least ten times that number? It's just the most economically sensible. They'll make money hand over fist releasing it for the PS2, and it's not like the PS3 people will be left out, they should assumedly be able to play it on their systems. Win-win.

No you dumb shit! In the original God of War, the graphics looked like it was rendered on the XBOX. Also the art direction was extremely impressive. Oh and one other thing. I am unsure if anyone told you this, but GRAPHICS ALONE DOES NOT MAKE THE GAME!!

Yes, but it would make the game frustrating as hell to play, and not a whole lot of fun. So why ruin a perfectly good gameplay formula? Sounds to me that you just need to play the game at a harder difficulty.

Because Sony doesn't do the same thing? They let RockStar do it with the PSP GTA's all the time...
Seriously... You people who bash Nintendo don't understand business.... The point is to get it to the most people to make the most sells... That is why Nintendo did what they did and that is why Sony is releasing this game on the PS2 and not the PS3.. it is all about sales... (also why PSP GTAs came out to the PS2). It is business...

seemed to be sarcastic taking a jab at the Sony fans who say every Wii game sucks because of the graphics. Of course graphics don't make a game great... and graphics since last gen were great in the end, adequate enough to age better now... It is just funny how with Wii games, the graphics suck, but these graphics are worse (not bad at all though) then the Wii and people say they are awesome and that the game is great (which the first one was!!!)
but in the end, hoping this game turns out as fun as the first one.!!!

@24, Sony don't control Rockstar what with them being an independent games company and everything. And the last time I looked the PSP was less powerful than the PS2 and both VCS & LCS feature original content, music, missions, multiplayer and so on.
What I'm referring to as you well know is Nintendo's flagship launch title being just a dressed up Gamecube game with some motion control strapped on. If Sony or Microsoft DARED dress up a last-gen title let alone make it their flagship launch title; Or if they engaged in a spot of product sabotage by releasing a virtually identical version in limited quantities a few months later on the last gen console to drum up sales for the new console; Or if they charged more for the virtually identical new gen version; then they would be skinned by angry mobs of fanboys. Probably the same mob who were first to scream themselves purple that Gamespot dared not give Zelda TP a perfect score.
As to your second response to someone else. It was a common call of Nintendo fans that "it's not about the graphics". Indeed I recall it as a common theme running through the various defenses of Zelda when it appeared with last gen graphics. It's no good throwing it at Sony fans since it wasn't their argument to begin with.
That's all I'm pointing out.

As it stands right now, it already looks better than that pathetic Untold Legends the PS3 launched with and a growing brand like God of War might have actually helped to move some of those systems that are currently collecting dust. Hell, I'd even have considered picking one up based solely on how much I loved the first GoW. Oops...

God of War 2 looks better than half of the Xbox 360 games and this is on a "last gen" 6 year old console. When GOW 3 comes out on the PS3, it is going to blow everything out of the water!

Okay...Let me add a bit of my thought to this
Wii and PS3 i believe are equally awesome in their own ways...
Graphics are not everything, as shown with the Wii(please do not bash this statement)
But if you put everything into 1080i like Sony is trying to to their fanbase will drop faster than a tie hooker because it will take soo long to release games witht these graphics without just reusing already created structures...which over and over again just prove they can make 3 shots in 1080i and say oh man the graphics on here are awesome, NO THAT"S NOT HOW IT WORKS
I myself, was a Sony fanboy all the way up untill the release of the Wii, it wa smore appealing with it's price and innovation(don't bash this either, because Sony announced motin sensoring after the fact nintendo did)
I love my Wii, simple interface, simplicity at playing games, less buttons(yes it does have less buttons[not the point])
Don't get me wrong I would buy a PS3 anyday, especially since a price drop is to occur soon seeing as one is soon to happen in japan(yes another true statement for those of you who wish to prove me wrong which this whole board has been about)
Each system has it's own games, labels, and way to play for a reason, hence the console war.

GOW 1 was the shit and 2 is gonna be too
Sony just wants to get what it can while it can from it's PS2 fanbase before the PS3 price drops and everyone gets one of those that is why Sony is making this move and putting GOW 2 on the PS2
a PS3 version has not been confirmed due to the possiblity that he wants to move away from this game type so he isn't stereo-typed as GOW only....sorry PS3 owners...don't get me wrong Sony has a good line-up but their launch games were unappealing

Resistance is a great game specifically for the PS3
Madden 07 is multi-platform unless u wanna see you favorite player that you control run around in 1080i
but you see the video game market is getting to competitive and needs to fuse into one super platform in my opinion
but that will never happen

I beat the original god of war on the hardest setting without the Ares armor and I'm still not tired of it. I'm hoping GoW2 will kick my ass at least twice as much as the original did. Definitely preordering this one.

To all of you, if u dont like system or a game just dont play it but dont bash on it and if you do you better be able to create a better game GOW is a great game with a great story line if u dont like it just dont play it and let everyone else enjoy it and dont bash on the hard work of the creators of the game
