yes Fred T, because spending $250 on a Wii and $5-$10 here or there for a game you want is much worse than spending $600 for a console alone.

Was a fun game....about ten years ago. Now I play NFS Carbon on 360 with HD graphics.

I wish they were doing the original super mario kart and it was on-line. Now that would be worth the money....

Contra III is an excellent game, but now I'm reminded of Cybernator, which I would like to see even more.

A good lineup this week. Not sure what to get. I never got a chance to play Mario Kart 64, and I haven't played Contra in YEARS. I do remember that game being harder than hell, though. Tough decisions...

Why Ninty feels the need to charge so much for these old ass games (that I played and paid for 20 years ago) when they are NOT imporved in any way whatsoever totolly escapes me. At the VERY least they could add online, I mean hell, ZSNES and other emulators allow online play.

Nintendo, before the launch of the Wii: "The games on the virtual console will be exactly the same as they were when they were first released. If there was no online multiplayer in the original, there won't be in the virtual console release."

I never owned MarioKart64. How am I stupid for wanting to pick it up now?

I don't want 'next gen', I want fun games no matter what year they were made. I could have just as much fun with Star Tropics for NES or any of the Ultima games as I can with Blue Dragon for 360 or Final Fantasy XIII for PS3.

guess I'm not a 'true gamer' though, eh? because I actually still play the games that I enjoied as a kid instead of only playing playstation 3. I would rather have fun playing games from any and every system released throughout the years anyday than be considered a "TRU GAMER" and only be able to play the one with the most processing power.

for the record, the only reason I used blue dragon and ff13 is because honestly sitting in a room doing nothing but staring at a wall would be more entertaining than resistance or gears of war or any other first person shooter (unless its Wolfenstein 3d, that was a good one)

Wii games-almost xbox graphics, ok controller interface, short games/gimmick party games besides zelda. $50 bucks

PS3/360 games-hd graphics, next gen online service, high substance games, more genre choices. $50-60 bucks.

I state facts. Most gamers will agree with me that PS3/360 are better choices for playing good games.

My parents and gf want a wii and they hardly play games. Nintendo is tapping in to the gen public that will unlikley buy anything other than Wiisports. After the gen public gets out of this phase(approx about 6-8 months) nintendo will crumble.

Frankly, the trolling is pointless and responding to them is even worse. That said...

We should all be thanking Nintendo for finally starting to trickle out some of our favorite classics. Link to the Past, Mario Kart 64, and Contra III are three of the games I bought the Wii hoping to get. I'm glad to see that we're finally getting some of the stronger titles here in the US. Personally though, the most anticipated game on my list is Super Mario RPG. I never got a chance at that one back in the day and have always wanted to try it out. I'd like to see that and Super Metroid come out soon and I'll really climb aboard this Virtual Console train! :)

The amount of red herring that always shows up in Wii threads is comical. What does Sony have to do with any of this? Just admit Ninty is greedy and isn't offering anything more than a overpriced re-release of a game they already made loads of money from the first time (or two) around.

If they really were about value and caring about customers they would at LEAST bundle the games in a pack of 20 and sell them for $30. Thats the very least I would expect, why? Because Midway, Capcom, and Namco have been doing it for years.

I think many of you know I don't go around bashing Nintendo in every news story the way someone like Fred does... but I honestly feel like Nintendo is dropping the ball with the VC.

I don't care if they told us before the launch there would be no changes to VC games, that doesn't mean it's not a mistake. Their prices are too high for games this old. If they had online multiplayer then, hell yeah, a game like MK64 would be worth the price. As it is now, I'll just play the Mario Kart 64 DS.

buying them again offers more than just money in nintendo's pocket. Some of us don't MIND spening 5 to 10 bucks a week to get a classic game we know and love.

I can't speak for everyone else, but purchasing the games individually is definetely prefferable to me. I don't want a disk with 85 games on it, and I already HAVE all these games on my computer via roms. There's just something nostalgiac and fun about purchasing these games and having them on a Nintendo console to enjoy all over again. Playing LTTP on my tv, with a supernintdo-esque controller takes me back to 12 years old! It's FUN! and that's the whole FUCKING POINT, ISN'T IT?

Atleast with the 360 games get updated graphics and online play. Doom, Double Dragon, Smash TV, Contra, Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat 3, Gauntlet, Frogger and so on

Need for Speed Carbon is owned by Mario Kart 64 in every department except graphics, that includes music, gameplay, replay value and presentation.

Shove your Need for Speed Carbon up your ass TRUTH, the best games are still coming out on PS2, which is years old hardware. VC is an extra addition, just like playing dated Xbox games on Xbox 360 is a extra addition, if you don't wanna make use of the feature it's okay. For those of us who missed some of these games when they came out and don't have the time to bust out the SNES/Genesis/Whatever and buy carts on Ebay, blow on them, and hope they work, we will enjoy this feature. Some of us will use emulators and roms instead, but I prefer not going to shady sites or spend ages googling to find a decent rom site. Also I don't want to play on a little screen with a 3rd party control pad (or god forbid, on the keyboard). I know you can hook up your computer to your TV, but that's a lot of trouble to go through, since my computer isn't even close to my TV. Yeah, maybe these gamers are old, but I can't see why they wouldn't be enjoyable any more even though they are old, even if they don't have HD graphics.

this guy knows where I'm coming from. I've played everything under the sun. I've played great games before they even HAD graphics....back then they just had FONTS. And I could still play Planetfall today and enjoy the shit out of it. It's not about graphics and online and how many features it has.

It's about FUN. FUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN.
