Because this thread can't really get any lower, I have selectively, yet subtly, replaced select words in the original post with words that will bring pleasure and excitement to TRUTH and Fred T.
Without further adieu...

'Last Monday, Penis's excellent Legend of Penis: A Link to the Penis sat around, waiting for its Penis from Sega to make their way onto Penis's fledgling Virtual Console service. We don't need to tell you that they never Penised up. Until now that is.

This week another seminal Penis title, Penis Kart 64, is being joined by Penis Bros. and Penis Zone -- two of the three promised Genesis titles (despite what Sega's Penis says) -- with the forgettable Penis Ground being pleasantly replaced with the similarly 16-bit SNES title, Super Probotector: Penis Rebels ... errr, rather Contra III: The Penis Wars. Normal VC prices apply to this batch: N64 titles fetch 1000 Penis Points while SNES and Genesis titles go for 800 Penis Points.'

I bought Mario Kart 64 today. Me and my roommates will easily play enough of it for $10.

Yeah, I've got it on the PC, but four people crowded around the PC in my room is kinda difficult?

Yeah, it's on the Xbox too, but it stutters and has other emulation issues. Even if it's still pretty fun.

But this weekend, when the four Wavebirds are powered up, (and alcohol is helping us drive better!) the complete value of that $10 is going to be accessed.

I'd love for it to be online, and have graphic touch ups, but it's not like that couldn't be coming down the line. If it had those features it'd have been a definate no-brainer purchase.

Zelda, MP3 and GameCube compat (so I can buy classic GC titles for $5-10, like I already have with Metroid Prime, Wind Waker and Eternal Darkness) sold the console for me as a individual gamer. But Rayman and Wii Sports have logged, and similar titles probably will log just as much time played because of the group gaming.

I'll wait for X360 and PS3 when the libraries are there and they're cheaper. Because of the amount of time (and money) I have anymore, the Wii will provide more than enough fun, and "epic" titles (Zelda, Metroid, etc.) in the interm.

The X360 and PS3 are easily better pieces of hardware, and probably better consoles. But the Wii currently and in the near future (six months) has the titles I'd like to play, combined with the lower price point and the new fun factor. It's not about buying the BEST console with the MOST features, it's about getting the console that has the games you want to play.

And today, $10 got me a game I, and my friends, would like to play.

What the hell? Could someone please tell me why the fuck can't I find Wii Point cards ANYWHERE? I'm 200 points short of Contra 3: The Alien Wars.

anyway, for everyone that says it's about the fun and the enjoyment of the game...I agree 100% I'm in the PSWii camp thanks to a free PS3 that my dad gave me. I've been playing Resistance and I have to say the online is very impressive. I had a friend turned "tripped out" fanboy and not want to talk to me anymore because I wouldn't trade in my PS3 for a 360. What kind of fanboy bullshit is that? it's a sad world we live in when grown men have to act like spoiled brats because everyone doesn't suppose their console of choice, but I digress.

I too am upset that Nintendo is not supporting online play as readily as they should. The Wii titles suffer as a result and I sent Nintendo a detailed email stating this. VC suffers even more so because, quite frankly, I don't have many visitors at my place so multiplayer without online is a wash. I really like the Wii, I think it has great potential, but whoever decided the Wii shouldn't support online at launch should be slapped in the face and fired, effective immediately. i could deal with the prices of the VC if they just supported online play...

I'm finding TRUTH and Fred T funny.

I'm the only person in my group of friends who has EVER owned a Nintendo console (well one owned a N64 just, and except for that only a few ever owned Nintendo handhelds), and they're all interested in coming round to see what the Wii is like.

I'm not saying the 360 is bad (PS3 I'm doubting it'll have as much success as PS2 but thats not my problem, as long as Wii gets games I'm happy) and I've heard good things from friends.

I'd like to say, irrelevant of graphics, how can anyone compare Carbon and Mario Kart, they only have 4 wheels in common. Surely they're completely different gaming ideas. Compare Burnout and NFS (Burnout has it by miles imo) or Crash Bandicoot and Mario Kart (MK wins imo) but not Carbon and MK.

Wii has, and will have good games, yes which include Mario but...

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Red Steel (a shooter made for a console with a pointer makes more sense than a control stick)
Metroid Prime 3 (it'd compete with Halo at the very least)
Elebits
and more

The above didn't include quite a few of the good games, or any Mario titles.

I'll have my Wii, you have your 360, and we'll grow up and leave it at that, for Microsoft can afford to throw enough cash into Xbox franchise to not care if it loses profit, and Nintendo will make profit and keep making games, even if it doesn't outsell Xbox franchise.

I would just like to point out that the Wii's online service doesn't exist yet. It's going the way of the DS and everybody knows it. It starts with some awkward minigames with a few gems here and there as developers get used to the controls and learn when and why to use them. Then a year later it goes online and people start pumping out amazing games.

You can't knock Wii's online before it hatches. You can knock Nintendo for not having online out of the box, if that's your thing, but you can't knock the service... yet. The shop channel's manual mentions that you can UPDATE any game you've already downloaded if and when they release any updates. So they're definitely planning on updating at least one game eventually. This could mean improved graphics, new co-op modes, online play, who knows. We won't find out until it goes online. Maybe nothing will get updated ever. But Nintendo has stated that the VC is for the classics, exactly as they were, and now Nintendo has said they will have a new channel or new area of the shop channel for new content. I'll bet that this is where original games with online come in.

And only half the VC prices are ripoffs. $8 is a steal for Link to the Past. The cartridge is $15 minimum anywhere you go. $5 is too much for NES Tennis.

I really don't mind the VC or its prices for three big points

1)Yeah I already bought Mario Kart 64 and Comix Zone, but at the same time over the year and massive play my N64 has become damaged and I can't even find the old game. I still like to play them on a TV so I'll pay for it.

2)It gives me something to share with my nephews who are way to young to remember anything before last generation. Alot of these games that I pull out I buy and play with them and get to share part of my childhood with them.

3)I feel like I'm getting to vote with my dollar. Nintendo in the NES and SNES era had tons of games and franchise that aren't around or being used. I buy a copy of Kid Icucrus on the VC I'm showing nintendo I think they may wanna bring that back. I'm going to buy Earthbound when it comes out and I can still find my SNES and my copy of the game, but I want nintendo to know that There are fans of the Mother Series who would love if it got localized here.

The lack of online on Mario 64 sucks, but i'd be more then willing to wait a few months and maybe shell out 5 more bucks for online play. All I played before and more for about 15 bucks.

Even Xbox 360 Fanboys can admit the Wii is a hugely popular console. There is no way in hell that you can get on a blog and argue with Wii Lovers that the console sucks. It simply isn't going to happen. That's like someone trying to convince me that the sky is orange when it simply isn't the truth.

I think the real problem is that PS3 Fanboys have realized that both the 360 and the Wii, are simply more focused in their approach to gaming. The 360 represents hardcore gaming, media rich environments, connectivity, and community. The Wii represents casual gaming, party gaming, and just looking silly while having fun with obviously outdated hardware. The PS3 on the other hand doesn't know what it wants to be and thats its most glaring flaw. It wants to be your media hub, your PVR, your super-computer, but its missing something central to being a great console: an identity, and games.

Most games on the PS3 will appear on the 360, some which supposedly look better on the 360 hardware. The exclusives that were supposed to be appearing on the PS3 are quickly becoming non-exclusive i.e. UT2007, GTA 4, RE5, VF5, and perhaps even DMC4. Then theres the Wii which has taken off like a damn Saturn V, and you see why idiots like Fred T and Truth start hating.

Its time for Microsoft and Nintendo to get their shots at taking the Playstation Empire down. Wow thats nerdy...and never ever again appear on Joystiq with your lame ass bullshit. Be gone!

I personally don't think very many of the games on the VC are worth the money they are asking and honestly i dont think i would pay for them if they were at a lower price either. I would buy FFVI if they released that game, but since they are releasing it on GBA i doubt it will be up on the VC anytime soon.

I own all 3 'next gen' systems and i have had fun with all of them. I have probably used the wii the least though, just because it is hard to go from HD graphics to SD graphics. I was expecting that though and i dont blame nintendo. I just wish there were more games out for the system that arent just mini/micro games. warioware was fun and is one of the few games the my gf will ever play but it is more fun to play with people (ditto for all other games on wii besides zelda that i currently own) and is completely unsatisfying/stupid when by yourself. I really enjoy my xbox 360 the most and i think i will continue to like that system more than the others because of xbox live. It makes the game so much more fun playing vs people/ with people / comparing scores for certain games. My ps3 is used more as a blu-ray player than anything. im curious to see what sony can do with this system. I dont think they will crap out like a lot of people think. I just wish they had more games/better online system/achievements or something similar. If a game releases on both systems i will always get it on the 360 for the achievements, unless the ps3 version looks a lot better...
