Wow, the Wii is obviously just another kiddy Nintendo console, I mean doesn't this just prove it:

Red Steel
TLOZ: Twilight Princess
The Godfather: Blackhand Edition
Medal of Honor: Vanguard
Scarface
Metroid Prime 3
Disaster: Day of Crisis
Project H.A.M.M.E.R.

All obviously aimed it five-year-olds, it's quite plain.

If the Wii is for kids, then Xbox 360 and the PS3 are for folks that live in their parents' basement, deals with obesity, and are allergic to the sun.

Hey Gavin, Scarface got decent scores on PS2 and Xbox (metacritic 75&76) so I don't understand how this decent game became "shovelware". Is it just because it's a Wii version?

In an age where 'exclusive' games are an increasing rarity, this news shouldn't surprise anyone. If a game company can expand their potential audience by putting the same game onto four different platforms, they will.

Then again, the Wii version of a game always seems to have something over the other versions; namely the motion controls. Some people (myself included) are willing to wait for Wii ports of existing games just to have 'better' controls and smoother graphics (compared to PS2 and Xbox). After all, wouldn't waving a virtual chainsaw around with your hands feel that little bit more fun and immersive than a couple of button presses?

(Thanks for posting my news Joystiq!)

The Wii is going to get a lot of crappy hand-me-downs from the PS2 & XBox. It's the simplest way for games companies to make a buck from the platform.

Sure, it'll get hand me downs, but it'll also have plenty of exclusive games that 360 and ps3 only wished they could drum up so much publicity over.
As for TRUTH, he should get a job as the next administration's public relations rep. I'm not sure which is more ignoble, lying through your teeth. Or, fully believing the lies that spill from your mouth.

Not meaning to start a flame war here, but isn't this a bit of a graphics downgrade? Not that the Wii is a downgrade, but the original Xbox version runs at a very nice 720p. I'm not entirely sure, but is the Wii even capable of HD resolutions even though that's not the point of the system?

I guess on the Xbox there are more than a couple jaggies, even at 720p, so the Wii could use the extra horsepower for some nice AA at 480p. It's just a shame to lose that extra resolution that helped so much when looking for pirate boats and lone gang members.

WillTheSecond:

Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily think that Nintendo targetting a different market to be a bad thing, but Nintendo will have more child oriented titles than the other systems. And the point you make isn't really that great, considering all those games(except for Scarface or Godfather) are either Teen or Rating Pending. And of course Scarface and Godfather are ports of last generation titles.

I remember when the first Wii(then Revolution) game was announced in Game Informer. Everyone expected it to be a Nintendo game but it was Ubisoft's Red Steel. This showed so many things: 1. Third parties were going to support Nintendo's new console, with original titles. 2. Games would feature full use of the remote, instead of just minigames. 3. There were going to be more adult oriented titles for the system. Of course it turned out that Red Steel(a name which implies a blood soaked blade) would be rated T, the only good launch title from Ubisoft was a minigame collection(Rayman: Raving Rabbids), and the rest were ports.

Don't get me wrong I love my Wii. But I'm playing Twilight Princess, and just because it's rated T I don't view as an adult game. Think of it this way, if you were to prove how the Xbox 360 has games for an older market would you use Kameo as an example?
Actually there are a few other M rated title for the Wii. Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, but again these are ports of last gen titles.

The only other M titles I see down the road for the Wii which could get an M rating are: Sadness, No More Heroes, and Resident Evil:Umbrella Chronicles. This is out of over 150 titles.

Like I said, I like my Wii. But if Nintendo wants to get more of the 20 something age bracket, they should make more mature games themselves, and better than Geist was.

Why does the cover refer to this as Wii exclusive #1 ?

I wish companies would stop making GTA ripoffs from classic crime flicks.

oh, and if truth is a true gamer, i sure as hell want to be as "false" as possible...

I don't know if ports are coming to the Wii so fast just because of it's hardware limitations. It is also possible that 3rd parties never expected it to become as popular as it is now (I to this day can not obtain one). As a reaction to the fact that they do not have many titles on the system they are porting games and hoping that people will buy them, even if they have already, to get the novelty of motion controls. Ground up titles are coming and some of them I am looking forward to such as sonic and dragon quest. I am not bothered by it, all systems get throw away games. I am getting one, I do this knowing that it may not hold the momentem that it has now, but some Nintendo first party titles I need (Metroid, Smash Bros, Mario Party, Zelda). I am hoping that third person shooters a la Resident Evil Four make their way there I think pointer aim would add to that game especially in the Mercs mode where you need to work fast.

I hate the mentality that just because a game is rated M it is somehow "mature". Sure that's what the M stands for, but last time I checked drug running and ho smacking weren't the most "mature" activities. I also find it funny that those who seem to feel this way are either:

A: Twelve
B: Live in their parents basement and don't see much sun.

That being said I'm 20 years old and I'd hate it if games really got to be "mature"... I'd hate a game where I had to pay my taxes, go to school, and go to work you know "mature" adult things to do.

I concur that a lot of the 3rd party devs probably weren't expecting much of the Wii when it caught on so greatly, hence all the cheap ports.
I would think that by March, we'll start seeing plenty of announcements for original games.

I heard of another game coming out for the Wii that involves actually throwing the wiimote. Yes, you actually throw it!
The scoring system is based on how much of your furniture gets destroyed or how many other players you're able to put in the hospital; Lifetime injuries draw bonuses.

Er, PS2 has more E rated games than Gamecube and X-Box combined. 360 actualy has the most M and T rated games, but the E ones sell alot.

I think the hate is that Nintendo's first party only makes E-T games. Then again, Nintendo is the only company that has a true first party.

Stop with the hate will ya?
