Atari is preparing to wake its sleeping giant. Following a pair of mediocre appearances that culminated in 2004's Save the Earth, the Godzilla franchise will return to terrorize Wii later this year. Godzilla Unleashed, being developed by Pipeworks Software, will be the third installment in Atari's monster brawl series, which began on GameCube with Destroy All Monsters Melee (2002).According to Pipeworks, the single-player mode will group the game's monsters into four factions, each following a distinct narrative path. Meh, who cares? The real draw is destruction, and Pipeworks is promising plenty of that, boosted by years of progress and the chaotic tantrums afforded by the Wiimote and its Nunchuk sidekick. "Godzilla can be walking in one direction, attacking with his claws in another, firing his weapon in a third direction, and swinging his tail at a rear target all at the same time," boasted the developers. Whoa.
Pipeworks also confirmed plans to utilize WiiConnect24 and support 480p resolution and 16:9 displays. Versions of Godzilla Unleashed are also being developed for DS and PSP.

It's funny that you're stuck on the 480p aspect of it, and have nothing to say about the control scheme that you can't find on other consoles.
Interesting.

Besides quirky execution, the only other thing I'd worry about is being unnecessarily reigned in. Like Elebits restricting how much you can break on a particular level, I'm afraid a Godzilla game will have a "Don't destroy TOO much stuff" meter or something.

I am curious how they will leverage the Wii's key asset in this game. Especially considering it will have versions on other platforms.

If that's true, this game will be totally awesome. So far I don't believe it, or I'm assuming it's a super special move you do all at once, instead of controlling all of those independently of each other throughout the game.

A. Not feature online play
B. Take full advantage of all those nonexistant Nunchuks out there.
Sweet.

Analog stick controls actual movement.
Angle of remote controls melee attacks.
Angle of nunchuck controls facing (and breath weapon).

2. If the combat action is more of the same as Destroy All Monsters, like forcing street fighter into rubber suits, with 'ACTION COMBOS!'. It'll suck more of the same. If they developers take a clue from Steel Battalions, and slow down the action to match the titanic blows these monsters can throw. That would be great! Too bad, they probably won't.

Wow, you really are new to Godzilla games huh?
The arena is set in a city that is closed off by a large green gate, that way you are forced to actually fight instaed of traversing the globe.
More to the point, anything within the green gate is destructable. There is even a mode in DAMM where the player who causes the most destruction wins. Other than that, your not limited to how much you want to destroy.
