PS3 ads turn up in Xbox 360 game (inadvertently)

The website of UK magazine 360 Gamer has discovered PS3 advertising in EA's Xbox 360-bound football (soccer) sim, UEFA Champions League 2006-2007. The story here isn't so much a case of surreptitious product placement, however, as it is a tale of the benefits that come from sponsoring the world's most prestigious club football competition.
As one of UEFA's main Champions League backers, Sony's advertisement hoardings (as seen in this Xbox 360 capture) are bound to appear in any official videogame interpretation of the event -- regardless of the formats those games are developed for.
There are at least two big ironies here, as far as we can see:
- UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 isn't scheduled for a PS3 release.
- The Xbox 360 version of the game is released in Europe on March 23, which is the same day Europe (finally) gets the PS3.

Wow that's almost as bad as the Gears ad on the back of PSM or whatever that PS magazine was called.

Also there appears to be a Ford ad in a game where the only mode of transportation is feet.

How exactly is it "ironic" that this game is released in Europe on the same day as the PS3?
Surley it would only be irony if you could buy the game and see the advertisment, yet could not actually purchase the console yet.

Hasn't this happened before? SEGA used to sponsor Arsenal and I'm sure that Sony wouldn't let EA put the SEGA and Dreamcast advertising onto Arsenal's home and away shirts in one of the FIFA games.

How I interpret the post, is that this is what the banner ads in the Stadium look like. To make it an official release, I guess they are keeping the actual banner ads.

Doubt that Scott, Sony is a big part of football over here, so thier presence in each football game is envitable.
But like Bennyishere said, it makes no real difference, its just there to add effect, its not as if the 360 fans will suddenly want to buy a PS3 after seeing that there, and visa versa. So thats no real issue to anyone expect maybe the hardcore fanboy loosers who would find this an insult.

Sony paid UEFA to have their name associated with them.
EA pays UEFA to allow them to make a game based on their league. EA must include ads that would appear in the actual UEFA leauge
So no, Sony did not pay to have their ads in the game.

If EA licensed a statium/tournament and the statium owner/tournament organiser requests that such ads be in place then they would have to comply. Not sure why people are making a fuss out of this.
I am more worried by the crappy look of the game. No variety in the crowd. No banners of flags or anything. You would think that cameramen who can afford tens of thousands in lenses can afford different clothings!
I know it doesn't matter, it is a footie game after all. But isn't 'next-gen' supposed to be about realism? The graphics are so sub-par it makes you wonder why we even need 'next-gen'.

I distinctly remember seeing Nintendo banners in one of Sony's own MLB games. It's nothing major. It's just licensing playing havok.... dig them crazy ragdoll physics.

Arsenal are much better than last year.

Anyone who honestly thinks this game isn't coming to PS3 is deluded.
I'm pretty sure half the reason EA is even developing the game is so that they'll have a football game on PS3 at launch in Europe.
