@ Wolfrider

The point of the VC is supposed to give others a chance to enjoy games they might have missed. The nostalgic factor is definitely there, however, if you own the game and own a N64... Then why in the world would you buy it on the VC anyway? Why not hook up your N64, and bust it out old school style?

There's been alot of bitching about this, but maybe MAYBE 1 in 10,000 people (who actually play Mario Kart 64) would have actually used it. Like what's been said before, Ghost Racers took a TON of the memory card space that you used in the controller. I, for one, would hate to use up even more of my Wii's memory for stupid shit like that.

But then again, this is just for people QQing. Put some pants on... buncha babies.

What about Perfect Dark? That game is not half as fun unless you can play Elvis!

"I read that Nintendo, to keep their copyright on old games, can only sell that version of the game. If they update the old code in any way and resell it somewhere else, the old game becomes freeware for the emulator community."

Haha really? Someone told you that? I guess that goes to show you, that you can't trust ANYTHING you read on The Internets.

Copyright on old works (whether games or books or whatever) persists until the copyright term expires (what's it up to now, creator's life + 70 years?), or the copyright holder affirmatively and explicitly releases it into the public domain.

In fact Nintendo could have a LONGER copyright term if they did change code, because the term would begin as of the date when the modified version was released, rather than the release date of the original.

Stravinsky did it in 1947 with The Right Of Spring so he could continue making money from the by-then-uncopyrighted work, why not the same with 10-year-old video games today?
