That's a screen from the "Aftershock" track from Jet Moto 2...
Sam @ Feb 1st 2007 2:40PM
No, that's definitely Joyride from Jet Moto 1.
Which despite what Joystiq apparently thinks, was a great game.

To answer the question: Sony has no idea what its strategy is. It's just throwing shit out there and hoping people buy it.
CW @ Feb 1st 2007 2:35PM
Sony really needs to get their act together.
How long was the console delayed?
And what's the good excuse for why the Store is such a joke, given all the extra time they had?
The Store fiasco is a pretty good indicator for anybody looking for evidence of poor execution of the launch. Sony should have had an army of programmers making the interface to the store better, and another army of drones putting downloadable content up there.
Part of me thinks that the rushed 2006 launch was a last ditch effort to get *some* consoles out there, maybe viewing every console sold as one less xbox360 being bought.
I sure hope thing are better in March.
Myke @ Feb 1st 2007 2:39PM
Ah, yes Sam you are correct, I just saw the broken highway and went with it. Had I looked at the water effects I would have known, but I'm an idiot. Either way, I wanna go home and play JM2 on my PS1 now.
silkylove @ Feb 1st 2007 2:42PM
Wow, and to think that I thought Mario Kart 64 for the VC looked a little rough. This game looks like something I scraped off my shoe the other day:/
gwangi @ Feb 1st 2007 2:54PM
Is that a cell phone game?
Virtua Fanboy @ Feb 1st 2007 2:59PM
As a 360 owner I can say that I would much rather pay $2.99 for this than $10.00 for games like Novadrome, Assault Heroes, and Heavy Weapons. Not sayin Heavy Weapons is a bad game but ten dollars? OH HELL NO, LOL! I think that one of the things Sony has right is the pricing.
Virtua Fanboy @ Feb 1st 2007 3:02PM
My bad $5.99 not $2.99. lol
Doc @ Feb 1st 2007 3:05PM
that's just crap-tacular!! wow i can't wait to play all those crappy games that i could care less about on my hdtv!! at least the 360's marketplace games are in 720p so the crap is a bit cleaner looking. although i think that all the classic games downloads are pure hype, i could care less about playing old game again even zelda i rather play a new zelda and have a entirely new experience to remember. It's all sony has to offer as of now and it all nintendo can offer as well, not to mention that marketplaces games aren't anything great either.classic games are a waste of time and money IMO make new ones!!please!
vidGuy @ Feb 1st 2007 3:09PM
@Virtua Fanboy,
Well, I agree, the pricing is more reasonable than we've seen with Nintendo or MS's offerings. But I'd rather pay $8 for LoZ:LttP than $6 for this crap.
Dave @ Feb 1st 2007 4:33PM
Each giant pixel was hand-crafted by a Sony engineer, ensuring full true HDTV quality and clarity...
Seriously--what the hell am I looking at? All I see is large geometric pixelated shapes.
Wolv @ Feb 1st 2007 4:36PM
Man jet moto was such an awesome game (for its time). Makes me wish someone would have given me a ps3 for xmas... you can play this on a ps3 right? cause it would be pointless it was only playable on the psp.
Sony should have just waited till march to launch the ps3... that way the world would still believe it to be worth $600 everyone wouldn't have gone out and bought 360s over the holiday after seeing how mediocre (ie. not worth $600 to the general public) the ps3 really is.
Ken @ Feb 1st 2007 3:23PM
$6 is definitely cheap, but doesn't that mean it gets ported to your PSP? Meaning, that you have to play it on the smaller screen?
Mario Kart 64 is $4 more than this, and I can enjoy it on my big screen TV. That's more of a deal than you think.
Shagittarius @ Feb 1st 2007 3:27PM
Whats with all the Wii huggers cappin on this games graphics.
I thought Graphics != Fun
You guys will say anything won't you?
Mitsuo @ Feb 1st 2007 3:32PM
Hey don't knock Jet Moto. That was a kick ass game along with the second one! I miss those games...I think I'll look for them soon! XD
Daniel M. @ Feb 1st 2007 3:33PM
I can't believe they're charging for something that should've been included from the jump (i'm talking about blast factor multiplayer)
talk about nickel-and-diming us to death...
BPM @ Feb 1st 2007 3:38PM
FYI...
This Multiplayer Pack ($2.99) is just an add-on to Blast Factor. You'd still need Blast Factor ($9.99) to make use of it.
Dear Sony,
Why $2.99 and $9.99? Why not $3 and $10?
At least the good thing about Wii Points is US$0.01 = 1 Wii Point*. Granted, VC downloads are a bit pricier than I'd like, but at least they keep it simple.
*NOTE: Except in areas that apply sales tax to online purchases.
Anyone else think the "$x.99" pricing of items is getting old and annoying?
silkylove @ Feb 1st 2007 3:38PM
@ 13
I love my Wii, but you can see from my last post that I was less than pleased with Mario Kart 64's emulation as well. Jet Moto makes Mario Kart 64 for the VC look like Gears of War. Bad graphics can be charming sometimes, especially 2D. But bad 1st gen 3D graphics are just painfull.
Slaziman @ Feb 1st 2007 3:40PM
Who the hell said that?
The mantra is Gameplay>Graphics
Why everyone always assume Nintendo consoles magically have AAA+++ gameplay, Idk.
Dreamcicle @ Feb 1st 2007 4:38PM
Oh god, I remember this game... I loved it and played for hours and hours. Looking back I can barely stand to look at it, but back then it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.
BPM @ Feb 1st 2007 4:51PM
A PS1 emulator for PS3 is in the works.
But, you could always, uh, just get the original CD and play that on the PS3?
HappyJack @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:47AM
"Cappin"?
Wow. Time warp - so it's 1994 now?
:D
