Today's hottest game video: Wii Boxing beat-down [update 1]
Today's most-watched YouTube game video shows a violent -- and possibly deadly -- end of a Wii Sports boxing match. (Who are we kidding? Nintendo made sure to show the loser standing up in the far corner after each bout, so surely no Miis get too hurt.)After the break, watch a fierce KO-punch that results in a near-somersault by the opposing player. Then watch it again in slow motion.
[Update 1: We send a big nod (and the wish to never meet in a Wii Boxing ring) to The1Qwerty who created the video. Sorry we missed mentioning you when first linking the video from YouTube.]

Neat video + 1, Using the term "beat-down" -3, including anything from Pulp Fiction + 1000

Samus006 @ Feb 1st 2007 12:51AM
That guy that was WASTING the other guy looks almost exactly like my Mii! That's weird...
dsub @ Feb 1st 2007 1:11AM
ahh...just think how much BETTER this game could be with online multiplayer.
Nevertheless, cool video. Give us a new Punchout! Nintendo. The Wii is perfect for it, and you know we want it!

I gotta agree, you should really give credit where credit is due. You clearly ripped this video straight off of Qwerty_'s blog without even a slight mention. Bad bad bad.

The irony here is that the Mii I use is modeled after the Pulp Fiction incarnation of Sam Jackson, and is named appropriately. But then, I also suck terribly at Wii Boxing.
Dustin @ Feb 1st 2007 2:31AM
Hey guys,
can't fault Joystiq on not crediting his blog.
They did say they found it via YouTube (which I assume Qwerty post himself, user The1Qwerty)
danjo1 @ Feb 1st 2007 2:52AM
Well, if the guy didn't die from that punch, he must have got some serious skin burns from having his forehead spin around like that in the ring.
danjo1 @ Feb 1st 2007 2:54AM

Funnily enough, I was listening to the Rocky Theme (Gonna Fly Now, not Eye of the Tiger) as I read this, and thought to myself, why hasn't anyone made it yet in Wii Boxing? Though I have tried and failed to make a Balboa Mii. Anyone suceeded?

How on earth would you have known to be recording this when it happened? Are the results repeatable?
I wish I'd had my capture card ready when I somehow got one of the opposing team members to get stuck for an entire point behind the wall in front of the crowd in Wii Tennis.
beesnipe @ Feb 1st 2007 6:57AM
WHAT?! NINE THOUSAND?!?
Qwerty_ @ Feb 1st 2007 7:39AM

Question: How do you wipe the mat with a Mii's face?
Answer: With a well placed punch.
Metro Mapper @ Feb 2nd 2007 8:52AM
Does anyone know if there are multiple US versions of Wii Sports? My version has no option for a replay on Boxing (single player or multiplayer), but I've read that other people have get a replay by default, which you can skip with "A" like in Bowling. What gives?
