Game Trailers: The 10 most anticipated games of 2007
77
Game Trailers has got the production skills to pay the bills; they do a helluva job getting us excited for some of 2007's biggest games. Notables include Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Crysis, GTA 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Assasin's Creed, and of course, Halo 3. Click "play" to get antsy.

Please, nobody bash other peoples' lists. It is so pointless. It isn't like there is one correct list.
The nice thing about this year is that you can't make a top 10 list without leaving out a few games that you are really looking forward to. I left AC out of my list and I am psyched for it.

1. MGS4
2. FFXIII
3. SSBB
4. White Knight Story
5. Dracula X: Chronicles
6. FFXII: Revenant Wings
7. Lair
7. Warhawk (loved the original!)
9. Lost Odyssey (better be better than Blue Dragon...)
10. Spore (like my PC will even run it...)
Sorry, but at this point there is no way Halo 3 is going to live up to the hype.

Ugh, are people really still into GTA? I was starting to think the love fest for that game was finally over with.
Honestly, I'm not sure I could make a top 10 list if I tried, at this point.
SSBB if it has online is #1 on my list, and I'm eagerly awaiting Mario Galaxy, but after Sunshine, I'm a bit skeptical, admittedly.
That goes for Sonic and the Secret Rings, too, though on a much lesser scale.
There are a bunch of other games I think llok very interesting on all systems, but those ones are the only games I'd consider putting on a Must Buy list.
...and even then, they all have the aforementioned caveats.

LOL@ you bashing Halo3 talking about it not going to live up to the hype, and you put MGS4 and FF13 (why the fuck did you put a 2008 title in here?) high on your list

Sorry, but there is a huge difference between the amount of hype Halo 3 is getting and either of those titles. Also, those both come out this year in japan.
Also, I never said Halo 3 was going to be bad--just that I doubt it can live up to the hype it's getting.
MGS4 and FFXIII are getting a lot of hype, I'll agree, but no one is making videos scrutinizing frame-by-frames of the trailers to my knowledge. Bungie is releasing tons of teaser info (weapons and such) to create this hype. It doesn't matter if the game sucks (not saying it will but if it does) if you sell 2M copies on preorder.

People anticipate Super Smash Bros Brawl because Melee was a game that was challenging, had near infinite replay value (despite not being online), and was good on so many levels
Its a game that almost everyone could agree was good, and its a series absolutely made not only for Nintendo fanboys, but gamers in general
There are few games that all gamers can seem to collaberate on as being good, Metal Gear, Super Smash Bros, and Halo are three on that very short list that almost everyone can agree upon
My list for 2007:
Sonic and the Secret Rings (might be the series revival)
Super Mario Strikers (toughest and best Mario Sports title, hands down, now Online)
Super Smash Bros Brawl (duh)
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (3D Handheld Zelda, drink it in)
Metroid Prime 3: Brilliant mix of FPS action and deep adventure, like Halo and Zelda mated and had this child
Fire Emblem: Goddess of the Dawn: Turn-based strategy at its finest, plus its a direct sequel to the GC fire emblem
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Pokemon with an Online mode, no more needs be said

Spore should definitely have made it onto the list over metriod, but other than that I'm happy with their list (assuming that FF XIII is destined to come out in 2008). There are lots of other good games coming out too (Lair, Motorstorm, AC4 for ps3 for example), but this is good for a top 10 I think...

Am I the only one who's tired of seeing all these Mario "themed" games? How's about going back to the old Desert, Ice, Water, Lava levels? Sunshine was good, but I kept waiting for a return to the past. When I finished it, I knew it paled in comparison to Super Mario 64. Mario just isn't inspiring the kind of awe that left with Super Mario World. I'm sure this galaxy theme will be good, but it'll be too different for my tastes. Innovation is good, but themes suck.

I'd LOL, yes, actually LOL 'till my ears bleed and I piss out my bladder if it turns out to be Samus.

Anyone else irked to not see the US release of Blue Dragon, the Japan release of FF13, Fable 2, or in fact anything that remotely resembles an RPG on the list?
Mass Effect is an RPG.

With the amount of good games coming out in 2007 they should start making top 25 or top 50 lists. You just can't fit the gaming goodness into 10 spots.

Bunghole: It's entirely possible that Mario Galaxy could be themed in some way. Ice planets, fire planets, and the like. It may not be as pure as the old-school Marios, but it probably won't be as vanilla as Sunshine was. I'd say Galaxy looks really good.
And Brawl takes my top 5 spots. I'm pretty disappointed that Brawl wasn't higher on the list, but there are too many high-profile releases this year.
I'm pretty sure many of these games won't even be 2007 releases. I'll be shocked if I see MGS4 before 2008, and to be honest, Brawl will probably be a 2008 release too.
There are VERY few franchises that 99% of gamers agree are amazing. Halo has many dissenters, for example. I'd say the list could be pared to Smash Bros, Zelda, and MAYBE Metal Gear (though many of my friends don't like it). I'd like to say Mario, but Sunshine hurts its case. I've never met anyone who hasn't loved Smash Bros. I doubt there are more than 1 per 100 gamers.

read the books and you'll know who's under the helmet. as well as knowing three other spartans are alive at the end of halo 2 (same time as Ghosts of Onyx). Developers said in an interview that they wont show his face because this way you relate more to the character.

There are a bunch of others, but the two big ones for me are Brawl and Galaxy. I get the feeling that Super Mario Galaxy is gearing up to be absolutely fantastic. As in, of SMB, SMB3, SMW, and SM64 caliber. I remember reading impressions at E3 last May and I don't think I read a single negative thing about it. If Nintendo's put that extra year of development to good use, it could be the dark horse for 2007's game of the year.

*POSSIBLE HALO 3 SPOILER*
Kyle:
I don't know if you've read Ghosts of Onyx, but there's WAY more than 3 Spartans (at least a 1/4 way though the book, I haven't finished it yet).
And when people talk about "knowing who's behind the mask", they're inquiring about his face, which Bungie will more than likely never show (at least not in Halo 3).
