Some of you may have noticed that the PS3 desires your thumb to hit that X button to begin updating its firmware to version 1.51, so soon after the 1.5 update that fixed many problems. Well, it's .01 of an update for a reason, guys. Some of you also may have noticed that, after updating, your Blu-ray movies may pause arbitrarily for a few seconds. Others may have noticed a strange flickering of the screen -- as if the signal was temporarily lost. After checking around for Psycho Mantis, you realize that, while version 1.5 fixed much of the backwards compatibility scaling issue, something else has gone awry.Version 1.51 to the rescue! It smashes that shameful bug and brings your PS3 back to its senses. No more pausing, flickering, etc. To quote Sony's update release page: "Support for PLAYSTATION®3 format software titles has been expanded." Hmm, well, if the pieces fit. But, Sony, Joystiq is right: if you had a certain problem, say that the update fixes said problem. No need to be vague and ambiguous. So guys, download away and keep that PS3 minty fresh!
