Swim. Eat. flOw.
flOw's migration onto PlayStation 3 has been a slow evolutionary process. But as promised, Sony has delivered the game trailer (above) to PlayStation Store on time, suggesting that flOw itself is also on course; now set to arrive near the end of the month. Is it time to start considering Sony's service as a viable player in the downloadable (casual) games space? Or do we wait for Calling All Cars?

This game looks retarded.
Einhanderkiller @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:39PM
This game looks awesome.
required @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:42PM
Those that say things look retarded are usually retarded.
J.Goodwin @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:45PM
Wow, it looks exactly like the flash version.
What exactly the hell took so long? It's not like there's anything that needs heavy optimization.
greel08 @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:47PM
Finally a new game for the PS3...even if it is only a downloadable game. I will definitely drop some money for this title.
insertnamehere @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:47PM
The game is fun, but you can save your time and money by playing it for free, now, online.
adam @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:58PM
"Those that say things look retarded are usually retarded."
Not really.
A retarded person isn't able to comprehend the concept of being retarded. They don't know there is anything wrong with themself.
Rubang B @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:02PM
I don't know anything about this game, but that video looked neat. I'll definitely czech out the free flash version.
Does anybody else think the look, sound, and whole vibe of this game are exactly that of Elektroplankton? It's almost as if they decided "Let's make Elektroplankton... but with a goal!"
KC @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:02PM
I don't know why people say you can play it for free. This Flow on ps3 is a 3d version of that freeware flow.
Its different from it.
HOWEVER.... it's still a generally boring game.
MoonfirePewPEwPEw @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:10PM
I would rather Swim. Eat. Die than to play this boring piece of shit again (I played the flash version).
Chubbs @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:18PM
It's so beautiful, wow.
Chubbs @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:18PM
Cool
Azerael @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:31PM
How did it get rated 'E'? It promotes evolution! This is blasphemy, an affront to my deity of choice!
I will be alerting Jack Thompson immediately to this disgusting material.
I have been touched by His Noodly Appendage. I am blessed.

"But as promised, Sony has delivered the game trailer (above) to PlayStation Store on time, suggesting that flOw itself is also on course"
Are we really crediting Sony for getting a trailer out on time????? That deserves praise?
Tyler @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:07PM
@MoonfirePewPEwPEw
go ahead ^^ you'll be doing the world a favor.
burger boy @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:11PM
I probably will never own a PS3 but must admitt that this game looks pretty cool! It's a shame that some people will look at this like a joke and not see the emotion and deepness that I see when watching it!
t_m @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:20PM
its fun for about 2 or 3 minutes...
ShortFuse @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:32PM
I didn't like it at first, then I understood how to eat enemies. You circle and pick off their pieces one by one while they try to eat you. Some are canabalistic and if you leave them alone for too long, one uber one will come out. Then when you're done with the boss, you change species and do it again as a different type of fish. Very very very neat. I think it's that final push to tilt me to buy a PS3
mocax @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:36PM
You have to pay for this thing?
konajinx @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:41PM
"Very very very neat. I think it's that final push to tilt me to buy a PS3."
Wow, so much for that amazing Cell processor and all those other bells and whistles on the console!
bootsielon @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:43PM
hahaha, obviously the xbots won't like it. MoonfirePooPoo, I'm talking to you.
AndrewNeo @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:52PM
thebbps: Well, if you can find other things to praise Sony for..
fawazr @ Feb 3rd 2007 12:16AM
adam, I volunteer time to work with emotionally disturbed (retarded) people. You're completely. They know they have problems and that knowledge causes them nothing but grief. Fortunately, the net has people like you to set everything straight though.
MoonfirePewPEwPEw @ Feb 3rd 2007 12:33AM
"go ahead ^^ you'll be doing the world a favor."
How original. Not worthy of even commenting about.
Zack @ Feb 3rd 2007 12:33AM
I just played it online. It's fun, but I wouldn't pay money for it. If I wanted to play it on a console, I'd play it on the Wii Browser.
nick @ Feb 3rd 2007 12:43AM
Totally worth $600
Ndric @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:09AM
Game is so boring
Frankie @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:13AM
It looks pretty but so was the flash version. If that is in anyway similar in gameplay, I don't see why you need to pay just so you can play a prettier version of an otherwise, how do I out this, boring game.
JK @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:40AM
The flash-based version is created with vector-based graphics, not rendered 3D, making it a totally different piece of software on the PS3. They've actually said that it was re-created from the ground up. There will also be multiplayer features and extra levels and creatures you can use.
Just don't assume something is easy because someone else is doing the work. Even other software designers could make that wrong assumption sometimes, and it's good to take a step back and realize that if it was as easy as you think it is, they really would be done with it.
Mikeo @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:40AM
If it was the Flash version on the Virtual Console, people would RAVE about it.
See the irony?
Dave @ Feb 3rd 2007 2:00AM
So people rave about VC ports of old games you can get for free when Nintendo is too lazy to even put in the features that came in the original game (MK64 ghost debacle). Meanwhile Sony completly reimagines a popular flash game with next gen graphics in HD with a new soundtrack and people shit all over it. Does that make any sense? I bet the price for it is better than those insulting VC prices too. Sony looks to be putting a large amount of work into this game and it looks very impressive. I think you could even call it art.

No people wouldnt. Flow just simply isn't a fun game.
Einhanderkiller @ Feb 3rd 2007 3:37AM
It's fun to me.
GJM @ Feb 3rd 2007 3:51AM
"Are we really crediting Sony for getting a trailer out on time????? That deserves praise?"
Three letters for you: J R-W
fishamaphone @ Feb 3rd 2007 4:35AM
On FlOw: wasn't impressed with the Flash version as a game... it had a great feel and a nice atmosphere, but it really didn't strike me as being a "game," and I couldn't bring myself to keep playing after three levels.
On the trailer specifically: by coincidence, a YouTube clip from ATHF was loading in another tab, and started playing right as the "flOw" logo came up... it took me a few seconds to realize that "Typical filthy humans! You have no respect for us trees!" wasn't part of the trailer... it just fit in so well...
Grunge @ Feb 3rd 2007 4:41AM
"Meanwhile Sony completly reimagines a popular flash game with next gen graphics in HD with a new soundtrack and people shit all over it."
Uh ... no. First of all, Flow isn't a popular flash game; it's a semi-popular flash toy. Second, this is not the sort of game that benefits much (or at all) from HD graphics. Third, the reason that people shit on it is because some fanboys are proclaiming it as the game that will validate the PSN and give XBL a run for it's money. There is no chance in hell that it will do that. If you hype up a game like that, it's no wonder that people are going to say "Yeah, it's not that good." Fourth, the game is already available for free on the web. It doesn't really matter much what they do to improve it, because it was something that started out free - it will never lose that stigma, especially since you can link it directly.
MSV @ Feb 3rd 2007 4:58AM
Its like saying Half life 1 would be more interesting if remade with better textures/graphics....the flash version is more than enough for people to come to their conclusions.....this game is fun but is it $600 worth ??
lion @ Feb 3rd 2007 6:08AM
"the flash version is more than enough for people to come to their conclusions.....this game is fun but is it $600 worth ??"
Oh come on, that's like saying the XBOX 360 is a nice shade of white... but is that shade of white worth $500? OF COURSE NOT!!! Noooo one is buying the PS3 JUST to play this game. No one feature or game is for any system EVER is worth the entire cost of the system. Thanks though for your input.
DrXym @ Feb 3rd 2007 6:11AM
The PS3 version looks much, much, much prettier than the flash version and probably does 1080p too complete with trippy music. Can't say I like the game much, but I can imagine that others would go nuts over it.
MSV @ Feb 3rd 2007 8:46AM
My point is "Flow" on ps3 is nothing great and is just a improved version of th FREE flash game. I have a PS3 and i love it to the core, but i also hate the fact that sony is not getting enough good games out for it.
Joop @ Feb 3rd 2007 11:12AM
This is their answer to Geometry Wars?
PUNKUHR @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:12PM
Funny thing, I am currently on the Playstation Store, and I do not see the "Flow game trailer" ANYWHERE in here... The only difference I see is the addition of "Jet Moto" for PSP. And yes, I updated last night, right after the update reared it's ugly little head. I hate (being forced to) taking time to update, when i dont need, or am not interested in, anything the update includes.
James Kochalka @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:27PM
*sigh*
This would've been perfect for the Wii. I wish Nintendo would get off their butts and let small developers start making games for the Virtual Console.
Rocketboy @ Feb 3rd 2007 1:32PM
Zzzzzzzzz.... ZZzzzzzzz.... Zzzz.....
Sorry, I was just reliving the last time I played that game.
adam @ Feb 3rd 2007 4:04PM
You're welcome.
bootsielon @ Feb 4th 2007 1:04AM
Well, some people don't spend all the day on the net looking for games, you tards. The same goes for Geometry Wars, but you don't see Geometry Wars failing on Xbox 360, do you? Unfortunately for Sony though, even if it's great to have games like this on consoles, this one (and every game actually) would benefit from gamerpoints. Still, since it is "free" on the net, this one game in particular would benefit more from gamer points, since, again, you can play it for "free", but at least gamerpoints would give it some value.
mushiking @ Feb 4th 2007 1:56AM
you're really bitter aren't you moonfire? at first i thought you were, but it seems like you pull the same schtick in every thread that even remotely mentions Sony. it's becoming obvious that you're just a troll, and you have nothing to contribute at all.
GoonieGooGoo @ Feb 4th 2007 7:24AM
As a PS3 owner....I see no reason to pay money to download and play this.
Give me my TEKKEN: DARK RESURRECTION already....for chrissakes...
AJ @ Feb 4th 2007 5:11PM
Why would I pay to play a game I can play online for free?
