Mass Effect won't be in May

On Friday we pointed out that the Australian Xbox site had a May 18th release date posted for Mass Effect. It turns out that Microsoft has since debunked the rumor and changed the date on the site to "TBD", matching the North American regions. While the monkeys keep working away over at BioWare, there are no release date related announcements pertaining to the title other than it's not May 18th. Still, don't rule out a May/June release, but we'll have to wait until we get an official announcement.

I corrected you when you made the original post about the supposed release date, so why is "Jonah" being thanked for this correction, way afterwards? And at the very least, why is the original post not updated to say the information in it is wrong?

I read that IGN story, but really, don't believe it. Of course MS won't fess up to it being "official" but in the past games like Oblivion have had the same Xbox.com fiasco happen to them and the game came out or around the same time Xbox.com said it would. Someone at MS goofed up, but take this as a release window, not exact date.

Why, Jonah? Is a comment not good enough? It's not like my comment is lost under an avalanche of other people's comments, is it?
And it doesn't explain why the original post still hasn't been corrected - they know "from you" that it's wrong, now.

Funny how two sites in the same network can have two completely different attitudes to fixing problems. Also funny how the far more popular/busy one still manages to fix errors reported in comments...

But back to the story. Even if the date for some reason should have been real, it would most likely be changed anyway. It's a long time to May.

I hope it comes out sometime during summer. Then I can do 3 things during summer: 1. get in trouble, 2. work, 3. mass effect!

and Australia was all "WTF mate?".

I want this game.

I don't mind waiting as long as it it for something productive. i hate when there are waiting and it SUCKS!!! Still Mass Effect looks to an amazing game. I'm waitning with much anticipation!!
