Earlier, we reported that SplitFish was introducing new rumble technology aimed at the PS3. That post was quickly followed by many comments that Sony had already nixed SplitFish and their new tech. As it turns out, that isn't true at all. Sony is indeed having talks with SplitFish regarding the EdgeFx opportunity. In a new PR from SplitFish, president Ken Tetterington, states that, "SplitFish is devoted to bringing our controller technologies such as the SensorFX and EdgeFX to the PlayStation 3 and other next generation gaming systems so that consumers can have the most exciting, immersive gaming experience possible. We have met recently and continue discussions with Sony Computer Entertainment of America specifically related to SplitFish's up coming PS3 gaming technology portfolio. However, SCEA have not, as they have stated, yet seen our very recent force feedback technology. We have a very amiable relationship with Sony. Our goal is to work in cooperation with Sony to provide a win-win situation for PlayStation 3 owners."
Will this amount to anything? Based on Sony's pride, the odds are against it, but we remain hopeful. We're just happy that they're at least they are discussing it!
