The Xbox-Scene forums are abuzz with news that some newly built Xbox 360 consoles (manufactured November 2006 and up) are trading in their previously noisy (and we mean loud) DVD drives for the "super-quiet" BenQ VAD6038. But just cause it's quiet, doesn't mean it can't keep up with its two noisier predecessors; the new drive is reported to load "stuff a bit faster and smoother." Stuff, eh? Imagine it: this drive coupled with those smaller, cooler (and delayed) 65nm chips, maybe an HDMI port for good measure, and all of a sudden our old-model 360 (which is gonna need a clever nickname) will be looking less like the firstborn and more like a redheaded stepchild.

TO EVERYONE:
Making copys of your games IS illegal. It doesnt matter where you are from or what your using your copy for its illegal. It's the first screen displayed when you boot up your game, and its printed on the CD itself around the bottom edge in little white letters. Read it.

Speeding IS illegal. If you have ever exceeded the speed limit you are a LAW BREAKER. If you have ever failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, you are a LAW BREAKER. Turn yourself in because, unlike people who just make backups of their software, you may actually HURT someone.

In regards to speeding... yeah if you can't handle your vehicle/consumed alcohol/are stupid, you shouldn't speed... there can be serious consiquences... But if you are a skilled driver fully aware of the capabilities of your vehicle and familiar with the roads and are smart about it.. It shouldn't a big deal but of course there is no way to set a definite line for that. So it is all illegal... doesn't mean I'm going to turn myself in... 10 years of driving at high speeds on only familiar roads that arn't incredily curvy... I feel the only danger is to the actual wellfare of my vehicle... Not a single ticket on record because I pay attention to all my suroundings and am able to see the dear/people/cops long before there is an issue. Again its being smart... Speed limit where you don't have a high visibility and fast when you can see for a good mile or two...

Funny there're so many piracy cops/hypocrites around.
I do believe that backups are necessary, especially if you have kids at home handling the DVDs. You just can't imagine how much damage they do to the poor discs.
And just because some people use it in an illegal way doesn't mean that you should block the rest of us from backup up for good reasons. Otherwise, many things would have to be banned as well.
