Darksaviour69 of dcemu.co.uk got his hands some details for the 5-in-1 Half Life 2 pack, "The Orange Box" and how it compares to its PC conterpart. Xbox 360 owners will get treated to Half Life 2, HL2: Episodes 1 and Episode 2, Team Fortress 2 and Portal. The PC's "Black Box" won't have Half Life 2 or HL2: Episode 1. Given that, it's not a bad deal for a standard priced Xbox 360 game. What we're curious about is how the Achievements will be divided up between the games. Will it be 200 Gamerscore per title, or 1000 each or what? Whatever the case may be, we're looking forward to hearing more as we await the winter 2007 release. While the art on the right doesn't look bad, albeit ordered oddly, we think this one is awesome.

Hasn't this already been reported a few weeks ago? The only 'news' for me was the Winter 2007 release date, which has made me a sad panda.

that would be so great if they all had 1000 gamerscore on each of the games.

Dunno, I could do without the Gordon getting tentacle raped on the back cover of the box in the link.

Disgusting, IMO.

I think they'll probably realise it in some kind of 'Special Edition' packaging, considering the number of discs we'll be getting.

Wait, is this half-life 2 or a mahjong game? The tax preparation software I picked up this weekend has a more exciting box.
That background would make a nice background for interior manual pages though, I'll give them that. What were/are they thinking?!

Yeah I couldn't believe this was the official boxart at first but after checking with my contacts it sure is. Very odd choice but I guess they are going for the "it's what's inside that counts" approach. People that know the game will buy it, people that don't will look at it for the odd boxart compared to the rest. A bold move from EA? wow.

I dig the box art. I'm just annoyed that this got pushed back again. Wasn't this a June release? That's valve, I guess. I think it's bad busienss to have TF2's release to compete with Halo 3.
As for the link: Due mostly to my coveted 49 gigs of highly-illegal tentacle pr0n, I quite liked it.

I don't care what the box looks like. It's what's inside that ugly box that counts. It's a steal with 5 games. :)

As a graphic designer I despise that box art. I enjoy minimal design but that is a bad representation of it and it's pretty ugly. However, the games inside are a phenomenal deal, period.

Garbage design. The jumbled order of games is infuriating. It should've just been an orange box with the big freakin' Half-Life 2 logo.
We'd get the idea, I think. This is just.. silly. If we want to know the games included, we look on the back!
Right next to that picture of Gordon getting tentacle raped.
And if each of these games has 1000 gamerscore... BITCHIN'!
But I doubt it. Which is going to suck, because the achievements are probably going to be pretty lame (Beat Chapter 1, 2, 3, Game, etc.)
Or pretty damn hard (kill 10,000 enemies without dying using the crowbar... WITH THE TV TURNED OFF)
