News flash: Microsoft still publishing Alan Wake

The gaming blogosphere has been absolutely abuzz over the past few days over reports that Remedy's psychological thriller Alan Wake has been picked up by Microsoft and will be published exclusively on the Xbox 360 and PC. This story isn't odd because it's untrue, it's odd because we've known about it for months.
While Microsoft announced a publishing deal with Finland's Remedy Entertainment back at E3 2006, the relationship is getting a new focus now thanks to an article in Finland's Helsingin Sanomat. While there's nothing really newsworthy in the article, it does take an interesting look at the challenges of an American company working with a Finnish developer. But that headline doesn't really pop, so we'll follow the lead of our blogging brethren and hype up some news that was already old six months ago. Hooray!

LOL
Nice dig at Kotaku :). Responses from Kotakuites already pointed out to them that they were posting news that was about half a year old. It seemed pretty funny to me.

I forgot about it too, have no idea how it's supposed to play though.

I can't wait for this game. I'm amazed something looking this cool is constantly overshadowed by stuff like Gaylo 3

I didn't know Corey Feldman was in this game.

You can tell from the screenshot above that the story will be very deep and engaging. It also seems evident from the same shot that the gameplay will be rich, diverse, unique, and of course quite solid. Possible GoTY. Guaranteed to blow away Crysis, Halo3, and MGS4 easily.

This game does look awesome, but the that comes the problem everyone is bitching at Crysis about (including Joystiq itself), and that is the PC requirements. The devs have already given interviews about some of the requirments, and they are very high. This game needs a quad core!!!!! They split up the processing of the game so that each core runs a certain thing, like AI, the physics, weather and effects, etc. (don't remember exactly what each one does, but read a couple articles about it.)
This is great news, and it's about time devs started making use of the multi-core cpu's most are upgrading to now. I'm still running a p4 2.4, but can't wait to upgrade once AMD shows us what they have up their sleeves this summer when their quads hit, then I will decide between AMD and Intel for my next rig.
