Happy Snake Man theme music day
The Mega Man series is known for its excellent music, but one theme from the series stands above its contemporaries. This masterful work of digital audio art sits alone and exalted as the finest of the fine, as the Hope Diamond might sit among a pile of lesser gems.
The true beauty and nuance of this piece is remembered but once a year, today, on Snake Man theme music day, a new holiday that continues in the tradition of game music days past. Come celebrate with us, won't you?

Snake Man's theme is nice, but the Wily Stage music for MM3 is better, not to mention the entirety of MM2; Flash Man, c'mon!

Dr. Wily's Castle from Mega Man 2 owns all!!!!
Heck, all of Mega Man 2 owns all. Though I will say that there's a lot of excellent music in Mega Man 3 (perhaps a bit deeper than 2's music, but not quite as catchy).

Capcom is probably my #1 favorite for videogame music. My favorite music from Capcom is probably in Marvel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter.
The NES MegaMan games as well as the early X games had my favorite MM music, though 2&3 were the very best, IMO.

Amazing how Megaman 3 is one of the best megaman's ever, even when Mega-man had no "Power Charge" in that one. Great music too. Oh, and the graphics nearly resembled those of some SNES games. Too bad the franchise got milked to the point of sucking, like Sonic.

I'm sorry but Snake Man's got nothing on anybody from Mega Man 2.

I so had that action figure when I was a kid...

RIP, Good Megaman Games....
they should remake 1-6(7+8?)
keep the controls the same.
just better graphics.
keep the music mainly.
maybe on something playstion-y?
or the wii for download or anything.
or not,
seeing how developers might screw it up.

You realize you're a megaman fanboy when you get goosebumps form listening to this music...
Sigh... all I want is more Megaman games. The world needs more side-scrollers. Can't wait for Castle Crashers though.

Let's see....Magnet Man, Flash Man, Crash Man, Bubble Man, any boss from MM2, most of the Mavericks from X and X2 and even X6. What do these all have in common? All better music than Snake Man. It's good but there's better out there.
....god I love Mega Man...

Dont' forget Gemini Man's theme. I'd have to say it's the best in Mega Man 3.
www.ocremix.org has some great Mega Man remixes.

All the stage music in MM2 were awesome. I had a friend a few years back remix them and did a a megamix medley of sorts, ranging from Chicago Hard House to Jungle. It was pretty sick.
def PD @ Feb 10th 2007 12:01AM
BTW, anyone know where I can score some of the stage songs in an mp3 format?
jw @ Feb 10th 2007 9:22AM
bravo guys. my all-time favorite music from a game, right here. i used to fire up my copy of MM3 on the gameboy, pick snakeman's stage, and hit pause and just rock out to the tunes. i've never heard a remix (either on ocremix or by projectx) that's done it justice.
there were other memorable tracks from this game (top man, spark man, wily's first few)... snake man still has that adrenaline rush, you burn through this level with your heart beating faster.
MM2 also had amazing music, MM3 just seemed more mature, with deeper, more subtle tracks.

here's the link to the mp3's. Some bad has covered them rather well.

I do everything I can to find different renditions of old video game music and Mega Man 2 especially. I'm elated that you posted this - thank you Joystiq.
