I gave mine to my sister along with the miniscreen I had for it so she would be able to play a few games without having to ask me for permission and stuff. As part of the deal, I got her GBA SP, which now allows me to play the regular GB and color GB games which don't play on my DS (she only has DS and Advance games, so it's no loss for her). All in all, fairly decent deal for both of us.

I originally boxed my Gamecube, but now it's sitting on top of the Wii so I can use the Gameboy adapter to play GBA stuff on the television. It's probably too much to hope a similar adapter for the Wii will be released.

I already had Donkey Konga and one set of bongos, and recently I got 3 more sets when they were selling them for nine bucks apiece @ Wally World. Now my cube is just part of a setup to take to parties, particularly ones with kids that need to be occupied. So I'm getting some "extended value" from my otherwise replaced system.

I got a Gamecube for Christmas (yes, 2006). Never had one, couldn't find a Wii, so why not? I wanted to play some GC games, it came with Mario Kart (which I wanted) and it was cheap.

Wii is in the family room/lounge, Gamecube in my room. Like all our major consoles the wii goes in the lounge, and since the GC is no longer our major console, the GC can now go in my room...
Major Resi4, Metroid, 1080, OoT, Resi4 and Resi4 (dang I love that game :p) whoring sessions can now be had in my room late at night.

I was thinking of getting another copy of Mario Kart Double Dash and seeing if I could get them to play together. Has anyone tried that yet?

Where is the "Keep it to use the Freeloader to play imported games, and to play GBA games on the big screen"?

We gave ours to our nephews who are having a blast with it (and hopefully realizing that their next console will be a wii and not the ps3 that their dad thinks it will be)!!

At the current trade-in rates (plus all the fond memories), i'd say there's no better option than to box it and keep it, pulling it out occassionally to use Action Replay to insert mods into Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance

Although that Viking Funeral Idea sounds kind of awesome...

I've kept every Nintendo System I've ever owned, I even went out of my way to get the Virtual Boy. The only systems I need to complete my collection are the GBA Micro and the original Nintendo DS

It's staying right where it is!

For me, it's 2 "Other"s:

1. Keep it to use the GB Player (I hate playing games on a small screen).

2. Keep it to play GC games without having to put up with the health & warning screen and then launch them with the Wiimote.

The Wii's GC capabilities are slightly crippled.

I'm keeping it just for the GBA player.

Mine's still standing on top of my NES so I can play GB and GBA games with the GB Player, and continue playing my import titles so I don't have to buy a Wii-compatible Freeloader.

Not to mention I can switch between systems faster this way(No disk-swapping)

Gave it to a former roommate for her birthday.

The only thing I miss is the ability to read the info blurbs about my GCN games from the console menu. But I never read those anyway, so who cares?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Wii the first time that Nintendo has ever really had backwards compatibility?

UpIrons: Yes, you'd be forgetting the Super Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance and DS.

As far as consoles and not handhelds go it's still the first time without requiring any additional adapters though.

My vote isn't exactly accurate -- I _already_ sold my GameCube for cash monies months ago, since I knew the Wii was coming. I held on to my Game Boy Player, though -- unless something similar comes out specifically for Wii, I might pick up a GameCube again some day so I can play Metroid Fusion on the big screen.

I gave mine to my older brother who hasn't been able to score a Wii yet. He was sharing a Cube with my other brother, but they got seperate apartments now and he had games and controllers for it. If he gets a Wii, he'll probably give it back, and I'll probably make a cool mod with it or find a GBA player for it cheap.

I sold mine early summer 2006. I knew there wouldn't be any games I'd buy for it before the Wii came out. So, I sold it at Gamestop when they had a deal on console trades. I also sold my PS2 and DS Phat that same day. I think the DS Lite came out a week later, which I picked up.

I still play mine.

But I plan on buying about 50 more of 'em.

Why?

Because I'm going to build a nuclear holocaust bunker in my backyard. It will be made out of the only three things known to man that can survive a nuclear attack.
1. Twinkies
2. Nintendo products
3. roaches (well maybe not them...)

I'm keeping mine plugged in. I rally don't like the Wii games so I never have the sensor bar set up. Unfortunately if you put a Gamecube game in the Wii you need the Wii remote to start the game up, which means plugging in the sensor bar. For that reason I still just use the Gamecube.

I wish Gamecube games would start automatically when inserted or they let you navigate the menu with the Gamecube controller.

You're missing the "Give it to someone less fortunate than myself who hasn't had the pleasure of playing Metroid Prime/Echoes, Resi Evil 4, Double Dash, Wind Waker etc etc etc" option. Which is what I'll be doing.
