Today's most held in place video: Hori Play Stand DS Lite video review
24
CheapyD over at CheapAssGamer.com has put together a really nice little video review about the Play Stand DS Lite from Hori. We were dubious at first, but after watching this review, we've ordered one ourselves from Play-Asia, to the tune of fifteen bucks.
This little sucker will make playing games with one hand a snap, and it also looks swanky as well. Cradle your DS Lite in some goodness, and wait patiently for the SimCity DS game to come out. It has the ability to hold the DS Lite horizontally and vertically, so basically any of your games will look sweet in its plastic and foam goodness.
Nice work, CheapyD. Now we'll wait patiently for this to arrive so we can pimp out Animal Crossing: Wide World as it was meant to be seen.

Awesome title.
Isn't AC:WW actually "Wild World", and not "Wide World", though?

A cheesy amateurish reviewer... Videos like this re-enforce the stereotype that gaming is a less mature form of entertainment compared to movies and music. Other genres have professionally written newspaper reviews, and critics who act respectfully in proper television programs. The game industry has morons like this guy who just want to be on YouTube, "Video PodCasts" from sites like IGN where the reviewers act just as amateurish, and a couple shows on television where the hosts purposely pretend to be unprofessional! Regardless of whether it is filmed with an XBoxLive camera or a professional camera, the unprofessional hosts and their moronic acting ("oh, hi there... you've disrupted my homework") work against the game industry achieving the credibility it deserves.

Lighten up Francis... I mean Evan. Gamers don't need Dan Rather to tell us about products. Seriously, you were that offended by Cheapy D's review of an import item that most people in the states will never know about?

For those of you giving CheapyD crap you have to take his review in context. If you listen to the CheapAssGamer podcast at all you would know about his Japanese homework and he type of humor CheapyD has.

I tried playing a DS while doing something else (e.g. reading Joystiq while playing Final Fantasy III) and found that even though I could get little bits of other things done while "playing" I was just enjoying the game less. It's more fun to watch the game go and be a little bored than to break away from the game world so often and attempt to get something else done. I'll pass.

Evan, I'd personally rather watch a campy review from a /gamer/ than watch some hip, X-treme dood tell me how awesome a game is from a teleprompter. I don't see how CheapyD's video hurts the credibility of gaming. He is giving a personal review of a plastic stand for a portable game system. There's room on YouTube for everybody, so if you want to produce a show that you think will give gaming the credibility it deserves, by all means, go right ahead.

uhhh. YouTube? Any old moron making videos for it???? NOOOOO NEVER!!!
There are reviews for everything on youtube, not just video game products, it's the double sided sword of the service to get amature video. But if your going to use it to get any old persons review of anything, which could very well be biased, your getting what you pay for(nothing).
On the flip side, people have heard of cheapyD... and he is doing a service by providing a review for something that costs $15; and thats not exactly something IGN is doing to trip over themselves to review. Proper camera usage and lighting takes time and costs money, not something people are looking for when providing a free vid.
on another note, i'm impressed how good the xbox live vision cameras quality is when you use it in good lighting.

I appreciate the review and heads-up on this on product. I could do without the "acting", and other negative aspects everyone else has already mentioned.

@ #9, Even
Extremist much? There's nothing wrong with someone who's NOT a professional actor being on camera, is there? Trust me, it's very hard to get in front of other people and speak. In fact on the top fears list, public speaking is #1, and death is #2. Just some useless trivia for thought. Not that I'm implying that video is bad, though. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Besides, nobody ASKED him to do it. He's doing it to help other people out.

Sweet review Cheapy. I may have to pick one up so I don't have to put down my beer when playing Pheonix Wright. Keep my $hit on lock down!
