Draco @ Feb 12th 2007 1:21PM
any idea what they are charging for wii play? is it a steal considering they give you a remote, cant imagine paying over 60$ for it.
Slaziman @ Feb 12th 2007 1:27PM
Man I've been waiting for so long for that Kim Possible game, I got it pre-ordered and all, I can't wait.
Myke @ Feb 12th 2007 1:27PM
Only Erik Novak would state the obvious.
Crono @ Feb 12th 2007 1:28PM
What? Nothing on PS3 or 360.
I sure hope they can get over that Game drought!
Martin @ Feb 12th 2007 1:28PM
WiiPlay is going for $70 USD. I heard about it on the local news this morning. What a fucking ripoff. I would have paid $50, if only for the chance to get another Wiimote, but $70 is bloody murder for a bunch of tech demos.
CowboyGA @ Feb 12th 2007 1:28PM
IT'S WIIMOTE! Sorry, but it just sounds so much better than Wii remote.
Hellsing @ Feb 12th 2007 4:14PM
@ Martin.
EBgames.com has it retailing for $49.99USD. I don't know where you heard it would be $70 but they are obviously off their rocker.
Ken @ Feb 12th 2007 1:31PM
@7
Uhmmm
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8205925&st=wii+play&type=product&id=1165610666980
It's going for $50. The news was probably saying that all the stuff combined would be $70.
Put your hearing aid on please. ;)
Shawn @ Feb 12th 2007 1:34PM
Not sure about the US, but here in Canada futureshop will be selling Wii Play for $59.99. US prices are alwasy cheaper. It should be $49.99 in the US
Nushio @ Feb 12th 2007 1:35PM
Martin: Don't spread F.U.D.
Wiiplay with remote is at 50 bucks at Gamestop.
comtar @ Feb 12th 2007 10:14PM
Chili Con Carnage? ....?
Is it like... extreme cooking challenges?
Slaziman @ Feb 12th 2007 1:41PM
10$ is for the game itself is very reasonable for what it is, the "Find Mii's" game and "Table Tennis" are very enjoyable, as is "Laser Hockey". The rest is a little mehhhh
vidGuy @ Feb 12th 2007 1:51PM
Wii Play is USD$49.99. It sounds like the games aren't really that good, but if you can't find a remote anywhere the pack-in should be worth it.
I won't be getting it seeings how I already have 4 remotes and no desire for these games, except for the Duck Hunt minigame. I'd love for that to be available on the VC.
jay @ Feb 12th 2007 1:55PM
HOLY CRAP chili con CARNAGE sounds awthome!
hehe. $50? Wow. over here you can buy Wii Play/Controller pack for the same price as a Wii Controller.
Look at all them class PSP games. It's surprising to see how bad that system is doing. All them games there are first class...
radd @ Feb 12th 2007 1:55PM
i was kinda looking forward to wiiplay until i checked out the wiiplay website. games made it look kinda boring...
Ken @ Feb 12th 2007 1:57PM
I am down to 3 at the moment. I had an unfortunate "wiimote toss" experience. My friend (drunk of course) was in a heated battle with another sober friend of wii Tennis. He slammed his hand on the wall a few minutes before, he then swung with all his might at the ball, and the controller flew out of his hand and into my lamp. Funny as hell though. :P
But alas, the controller broke. It was, aesthetically still in tact. So I brought it to Best Buy, and returned it to a gift card. :P Will use that gift card to purchase Wii Play.
Grant @ Feb 12th 2007 2:01PM
$10 extra for something that is worth $5 at most?
Nintendo sure is going for that profit margin this time around, but i guess who can blame them when looking at the last 7 or 8 years.
if you need an extra remote,i would go for it, but i would bet that in 6 months or so Wii Play will drop down to $40.
only then they will be allowed to call it a remote bonus pack, with free WiiPlay game.
Robotic House Plant @ Feb 12th 2007 2:04PM
Next week the 360 will have new releases, including Crackdown and E-Street Homecourt.
This week there may be an XBLA release, but it won't be publicized until tomorrow. Worms or Castlevania maybe? Both are supposedly coming soon. There's a bunch of retro arcade releases pending too.
It's funny, today is supposed to be the launch of the achievement rewards program.
mushiking @ Feb 12th 2007 2:07PM
i can't believe everyone's forgotten about the new Ratchet & Clank, that game's getting reviews.
und3rf0rce @ Feb 12th 2007 2:13PM
As i know, TD: Unlimited will be released on 2th March in UK, and afterwards for the rest of world..
Myke @ Feb 12th 2007 2:23PM
Mushiking...can you read???
Silver R. Wolfe @ Feb 12th 2007 2:35PM
Wow, the PSP is really cleaning house this week for games. Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters is kicking ass in reviews.
Kane @ Feb 12th 2007 4:41PM
I hope Eddie Brock sues whoever is responsible for Chili Con Carnage. He coined that term in the early 90's, dammit.
Lijik @ Feb 12th 2007 2:43PM
Woah now, I can get Ratchet and Clank AND Total Overdose on my PSP this week?
That just blows everything else being released out of the water.
Miniboss @ Feb 12th 2007 2:56PM
Mmm, new Ratchet.
I just wish it was on PS2. Oh well, time to dust off that PSP.
sheppy @ Feb 12th 2007 2:58PM
You guys forget about Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner. Just imagine a Pokemon style game with actually cool looking monsters for a change.
Myke @ Feb 12th 2007 2:59PM
Ok sheppy, I'll ask you the same thing I asked Mushiking...can you read? They're both listed on there, or maybe I'm hallucinating.
whosmav @ Feb 12th 2007 3:05PM
I guess its worth the extra 10 spot. But it really does look like poo. Maybe pool will aight....nah probably not. Whatever I do want another controller though.
boot @ Feb 12th 2007 6:26PM
Nintendo gets an A+++ for new ways to sell games. Wii play probably cost them a whole $2 to develop plus the controller "free." They just came up with a way to get you to buy a controller for more than its original price. Great job nintendo.
Striderhayasa @ Feb 12th 2007 3:12PM
PSP wins this week with the Ratchet and Clank release.
WiiPlay?..."sigh" ... no. Pass. Wii will be collecting dust while I play Resistance online and get prepared for my final Fatalis run in Monster Hunter Freedom.
sheppy @ Feb 12th 2007 3:18PM
You Guys = Joystiq Posters
Not Blake Snow.
Everyone is hyping Ratchet (as well they should) but in this hustle and bustle, you should also support Jewel Summoner which happens to be a prequel to an upcoming PS3 RPG. That was how my comment was directed.
StMadnes @ Feb 12th 2007 4:03PM
I am just loving that PSP library more and more these past few months..
Myke @ Feb 12th 2007 3:22PM
Ah, gotcha, just a bit vague, thats all =). Anyway, sheppy, now you got me interested in that game. I used to be addicted to red/blue when the first pokemon's came out for gameboy, still remember playing them on my old brick green gameboy, man it's been awhile.
Strangler @ Feb 12th 2007 3:49PM
some of you forgot about gurumin, the pedo game.
Robotic House Plant @ Feb 12th 2007 4:20PM
This weeks XBLA release is Paperboy
losttoys @ Feb 12th 2007 4:31PM
StMadnes -
Because you play as a little girl who can upgrade her costumes it becomes a "pedo" game? If you think that, then I would look into the mirror a little more closely, as you are finding things in games that are not there.
DakranII @ Feb 12th 2007 4:44PM
Has anyone actually been able to pick up Wii Play in the US today? 2/12 is listed as the release date, but I don't see it available anywhere.
sheppy @ Feb 12th 2007 4:49PM
2/12 is the ship date. Expect it tomorrow or Wednesday
sheppy @ Feb 12th 2007 4:52PM
Incidently, Myke, you should look a little more into Jewel Summoner. From the reviews I read, these are the pluses and minuses.
+Interesting Story
+Cool Monster Designs
+Pokemon Style gameplay
-Typical JRPG fare in the way of formula
-Limited Appeal with trading and versus due to lack of PSP toting friends willing to shell out $40.
-Screen split in odd ways.
Of course I'll snag a copy once I'm done with Devil Summoner.
MosquitoControl @ Feb 12th 2007 4:54PM
Just picked up Wiiplay. Got the Wii yesterday, with the last spare nunchuck they had. Now I have a remote to go with it.
vidGuy @ Feb 12th 2007 4:57PM
Most stores/websites have Feb. 14 (Wed) listed as the shelf date for Wii Play.
DakranII @ Feb 12th 2007 5:21PM
Where did you get your copy MosquitoControl? And was it in the US?
Brandon @ Feb 12th 2007 7:14PM
Got WiiPlay today at my local Wal-Mart with PLENTY of copies left. Called Gamestop before and they gave me an entire talk about how I should have pre-ordered, that their pre-orders were cut-off early, I should not expect to get one for about a month, check back on Wednesday the official release date, and not to get my hopes up. Called Wal-Mart and talked to someone there, and they said they had them in stock. Walked in after work, picked one up and left. No one else was looking for it either.
bootsielon @ Feb 12th 2007 7:17PM
boot, how would the controller be "free" or near free? That thing has a lot of shit built in. I'd say it costs them at least $15 including packaging, shipping and marketing.
Also, a game doesn't cost a fixed amount of the price you pay. The cost of the developers per game sold are a function of game sales, as in total cost divided by total sales. The cheaper the game, the faster they can cover their investment. That's not even taking in mind retail revenue.
Kye @ Feb 13th 2007 8:38AM
Wii play is ok. Even really good at times.
You get what you pay for though (minus the retail price of a single wiimote & there you go)
Still, its very good value for money and the shoot mii game is very funny come level five.
Table tennis is playable, lazer hockey is frustratingly good, find mii can be addictive & pool is cool.
All the other games are forgettable. IMHO
Like I said, you get what you pay for, but it is VERY good value for money if you like fast fun minigames.
p3arl @ Feb 12th 2007 8:46PM
wtf america?
down under we've had wii play since about 2-3 weeks after the consoles launch (including free remote) sadly the game is less lasting than Far Cry (if that ever was) pool and duck hunt are ok but the rest are trash, dont expect any wii tennis action on the table tennis game, your stuck on rails and can only move left and right.
Bowie @ Feb 12th 2007 9:17PM
I heard Wii play was pretty crappy myself. *sigh* Looks like I'll be playing TP and GoW online with ten year olds again :/
Strangler @ Feb 12th 2007 9:41PM
"Because you play as a little girl who can upgrade her costumes it becomes a "pedo" game? If you think that, then I would look into the mirror a little more closely, as you are finding things in games that are not there."
atually I read on some site (I think it was pspupdates or something) that the japanese evrison of the game had ways you cna look up her skirt and stuff like that.
Strangler @ Feb 12th 2007 10:03PM
