Halo 3 Beta invites delivered to 'Rule of Three' participants
The second phase of Halo 3 Beta registration is complete, as those qualifying through the "Rule of Three" (Halo 2 playathon) have been notified of their entry into the beta. Future beta participants have been emailed the following confirmation:Congratulations [gamertag],
You were one of the first 13,333 gamers to meet the "Rule of Three" program eligibility requirements. As a result, you have been selected to participate in the Halo® 3 beta.
In order to participate, you must have access to:
- An Xbox 360 Pro console or Xbox 360 Core console with hard drive
- A valid Xbox Live® Gold subscription
Keep an eye on your inbox, we will be sending more information about this opportunity soon.
*Limit one Halo 3 beta invite per person/Xbox Live gamertag. Your invitation is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The beta is available in English only.
Now that phase one and two are complete, there remains just one opportunity to join the beta test. Buy Crackdown.
This newly leaked clip might be an early glimpse of the beta release. Is that the ole' pistol? Watch while you can (before it's yanked down)...

i went to sign up on my second gamertag for the xbox rewards program and i wanted to see if they sent an email confirming my xbox rewards registration and i find out that i have a halo 3 beta invite, now i dont have to worry about buying crackdown for the beta but i will still keep my order because the game is fun to me.
Intentless @ Feb 13th 2007 11:25AM
The page won't load to join the rewards on Xbox anyone else having problems? I've tried in two different homes on 5 different computers...
pryingender @ Feb 13th 2007 11:39AM
I've tried the rewards page like 10 times and no luck, but I did get the beta invite email in the wee early morning. What a great way to start my day.
Jon @ Feb 13th 2007 11:45AM
The rewards program site is taking too many hits to handle the load and i was only able to sign up at like midnight last night. so i suggest being patient until they fix it or go to the site at odd hours.
Jeff @ Feb 13th 2007 12:30PM
I got into the rewards thing. there's a loophole to get the link. i did it last night. after you register you select the challenge from a list (of 1, at the moment) but it suggests there will be more challenges in the future

Thank you for confirming I am not alone and also letting me know that it is the site not me...

All this Halo 3 hype has me worried. 1 & 2 were great fun and now 3 has not only a strong reputation to fulfill, but also has insane hype to live up to.
Jake @ Feb 13th 2007 12:28PM
Don't worry Earl. Everything is going to be just fine. Halo3 will lower the GPA of Halo2 players significantly for at least 3 years, or until Halo4.
Jason @ Feb 13th 2007 12:56PM
Who got a beta invite? This guy! I'm still buying Crackdown, but at least now I can sell it if I want and still play the Halo 3 beta. Suh-weet.

Jake, you really ought to see my high school transcript. It's really nice until November 9, 2004. Then it just goes DOWN.
Anyways, I got my acceptance letter. I hope all accounts on my Xbox can use the account, I pay for two accounts and the second one that I used casually in Halo 2 was the only one with 3 hours and the only eligible to be selected.
headsh0tshurt @ Feb 13th 2007 3:34PM
Will the beta begin on Feb 20th? or is it just going to be another day where we can get an opportunity to join the list of Beta testers.

I'M IN
I'M DOING THE HAPPYDANCE
Fazer7 @ Feb 13th 2007 4:37PM
I'm a little mad that I did not get into the Beta. It doesn't surprise me though because I am only 14 and I think you've got to be 18. It would've been great because I have lots of time on my hands and would write serious feedback.
Oh well I guess I'll have to wait until the next big game...
Intentless @ Feb 13th 2007 4:53PM
Beta does not start to March the earliest. Probably not till a little later.
Dash @ Feb 13th 2007 7:18PM
Whoo!! Just got my invitation! I'm glad I don't have to stress about getting a copy of Crackdown with the invitation. I was going to get it whether I was accepted or not, but now I don't have to run out and buy it right away.

Translation: I have a legit account and a cheater account. I hope they let me use the legit account, because I know the cheater account that had 3 hours of play is bound to get banned at some point.
PS: The Beta is tied to your gamertag. You'll either need to buy Crackdown to get another Halo 3 Beta entry, or maybe stop cheating.

Good try. I pay for two accounts. The first account is the one where I care about my ranks. The second account is one where I don't care and instead use it to play with my friends from real life and help them level up. Because there's no way I'm bringing legit 10's into Slayer with my 40, thank you very much. So maybe you ought to keep your mouth shut when you have no idea what the hell you're talking about, huh?
And if you're going to even say anything roughly similar to "z0mg there's no legit 40z lawl," think twice, because there's plenty of people that level. Hell, on aforementioned second account, I got my friend to a 39 without host boxes or anything in Team Slayer. Hell, most 40s are bad anyways, I just don't feel like waiting 6+ hours per game for a match on my boxes.
Anonymous @ Feb 14th 2007 12:45AM
I got mine, very very excited. Now I don't have to spend 60 dollars on Crackdown, and I can instead rent it (since it's surely short enough where I can beat it in the span of a renting) and then if I love it, I'll buy it used for cheap later on. Thank you bungie, thank you microsoft, Viva la not spending 60 clams~!

No, it's the alpha release.

"I got my friend to a 39 without host boxes or anything in Team Slayer."
That really kind of highlights my point. You say you got your friend to a level 39 without "host boxes". Why don't you use yourself as an example? You said that you are a level 40. Did you pull host to do that? If you did, then you cheated. Simple. Pulling host is cheating. The system is supposed to choose the best host, and you aren't supposed to have the host advantage every game. What is your gamertag that is a "legit" 40?
chris astolfo @ Feb 21st 2007 11:41AM
I'm really disappointed that as a gold xbox live member (since it launched), and an avid halo 1 2 and nmp player, i wasn't invited to the beta..
xbox live is useless if not designed for this very purpose..
