"Oh noes, I might have to empty my savings..."

And then fill them back up from the royalties gaines from selling a half million copies of your title.

Waah.

Why are you making a bet and crying about it? That's why they tell you not to bet if you don't have the money for it. LTG, N00b!

I call BS on this one. There's no reason for a developer to make that wager other than publicity. I smell another dirty Sony PR stunt.

alliwantforchristmasismygow2.com, anyone?

Whoop-dee-doo. This bet is purely to get attention. With the game a hot seller, he's going to earn more than enough to pay for the lease. If it doesn't sell (unlikely), then he won't need to spend extra $.

Win - win for him.

Please!! God of War was an excellent game. 500,000 copies in a month? I wouldn't be suprised if God of War 2 doubled those numbers.

I'm sure as hell buying it, this game looks amazing. Its highly unlikely it's a marketing ploy, the game doesnt need it with the huge fanbase it has built.

Do you guys seriously think that just because a game does extremely well that all the people who worked on it are going to make bank? Doesn't work that way. This guy is just one of the many lower level designers on the game, he'll likely just get a nice bonus on top of his regular salary when this game does well, but in any case it's not going to be anything that even comes close to covering a $1700 monthly payment for a year.

Anyways if the bet is real the guy is an idiot for making a bet where the reward is no where near worth as much as the risk.

Yet another lame marketing gimmick. It is so sad how low people will stoop to make a little money.

I wonder if a demonic baby comes with the Maserati? I'd hope he at least gets a Rubik's Cube out of the deal...

When they slap a GH label on it, then I'll buy it. And that goes the same for the Wii.

This would be exciting if it was written somewhere that the "Bet" (Bets being Illegal in the United States) was legally binding and that the man actually was risking his lifes savings. The guy has zero accountability for this, so it's moot. The game will sell well, noone is getting a Maserati, down with viral marketing ploys.

It's obviously a stunt. They never say what the guy would get if he were right. The respect of his team? I don't think so. If I were going in for a bet that would put me out 15-20k dollars if I lost, I'd want something big in return.

I guess this guy could just be stupid, but I'm still guessing it's a setup.
