Just as long as he pronounces "Marquis" correctly, I'll be in ecstasy. I eagerly await the YouTube link on 20 Feb, the removal from YouTube on the 21st, and the seventy other identical YouTube links on the 22nd.

Totally. Marquis is pronounced "Mar-kee", not "mar-kwis" like in the game.

@ 1 and 2

Your wrong. It is pronounced both ways. The game is accurate.

i can't believe they mispronounced "marquis" through the entire game. but i think what really amazes me is that apparently none of the english voice actors pointed this out to the producer or director.

on the topic of patrick stewart doing a voice for anything relating to the game, i actually thought the voice of marquis halim ondore iv at the very beginning of the game was patrick stewart's.

He just kept talking in one long, incredibly unbroken sentence moving from topic to topic so that no one has a chance to interrupt him it's really quite hypnotic.

Its a french word. Even if the enlish dictionary has butcher the "proper" pronunciation to include the correct and incorrect ones (similar to how irregardless isn't a word, because its redundant, but now it is, because nobody got the memo), the correct pronunciation is the french pronunciation, which is "Mar-kee".

Markwis just sounds so damn retarded anyway.

I've gotta go with Crono on this one. To me, it's like those people who say they're getting 'orientated' when they go to orientation. A LOT of people do that.

I've never heard anyone, French or no, say Markwis. Ever.

FFXII is still awesome though and I'm excited for this ad.

Patrick Stewart would've been GREAT in FFXII, too bad he's just doing a commercial. Still can't wait for the Youtube Link!

Patrick Stewart HAS to be Cid in FFXIII. That would almost be worth $600.

Why don't they buy big name voice talent, anyway? What's stopping them? FFX's Tidus voice was the low point for me. Especially as an All-Star caliber jock, the voice was sooo wrong.

jcmschwa,

Now that I think about it, they probably say "markwis" in the japanese voiceover, and didn't think it proper to change it for the english. Similar thing happened in Trinity Blood: The gunslinger says "Positive" (instead of "affirmative") because the japanese version actually says "Positive".

Any one have a hi res version of that pic? It's great. It's too bad Patrick Stuart's character was so ugly and short lived in Oblivion. I think they should start using more real faces in video games. Perhaps dress them up with fake facial hair and make up though.

We can't really complain on pronunciation in an FF game. In a world where technology is dominated by crystals that let ships fly, I say we gotta give some leeway. There are no French in the world of Ivalice. Marquis pronounced the way it was had to be intentional. It's not a big deal overall. And Patrick Stewart? Great voice, though a 30-second promo isn't a big deal. I don't know who did the narration for the US FFXII advert, but I suppose it's not that big a deal.

I would love to hear Sir Ian McKellan in an FF game though. Very commanding presence.
