So, we've got our Halo 3 beta seats confirmed (most of us), but we're still in the dark to what is happening, when, and what. Our heads are spinning in anticipation and our questions have been growing daily. But that's when Bungie steps in to clear up some of the confusion, because they are the cool cats of the gaming industry. At Bungie.net you'll find a newly posted Halo 3 beta FAQ where they answer some questions (and leave a few still lingering) about the beta. We now officially know that there will be no NDA attached to the beta (that's one less worry for Richard), that the beta will be mostly a technical stress test, we'll get to see what the mysterious "X" button does, that matchmaking will be the standard Halo party system, and there won't be multiple joining "phases" to the beta. Everyone who won the contests in phase 1, phase 2 or bought Crackdown will go on at the same time, friends and family get to lay down the "early play" card. Lots of good stuff, but still no word on when the beta will start or how long it will last.

"What is NDA?"
Non-disclosure agreement. Basically states that you will say nothing about the said thing you are testing. (Aka YOU WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE OF THIS BETA TO ANYONE ELSE.) Luckily Bungie wont be including it.

i would also like to add that there is no way in HELL that bungie would be able to inforce an NDA...which is most likely the reason why they wont have it. (or they just want more hype for the game)

Yeah, I don't know how you could enforce something like that.

I mean I myself would break an NDA. I would simply record videos of myself playing (without the post game screen displaying my gamertag of course) and then I would simply bring my laptop and connect it to one of the many hundred open wifi spots around the city, and begin uploading. There would be nothing bungie or MS could do to trace me (since Im uploading from a public Ip and all).
Im surprised no1 did this with the alpha (unless of course alpha play was resticted to on sit elocations, then it makes sense)

Alpha was restricted to internal, and so breaking NDA had a lot more consequence.

mike...i agree with you...if there was an NDA on the beta...i can promise and swear to you i'd purposely break it. just cuz there would be nothing bungie or ms could do about it...

Personally, I'm not even that excited about Halo 3. I mean great, its just more of the same stuff that I've seen before. Ride around in some vehicles, hit people in the back of the head when they're not looking, and get sniped by some jerk immediately when I respawn. There's just not that much more that can "Wow" me with this franchise. Gears of War has got me hooked now. That game offers a great new experience that I haven't seen before. I'm not even that impressed with the Halo 3 screenshots and videos I have seen so far. I think the 3rd installment is really more of a "cashing in" end to the series. I think a lot of people like Halo just b/c so many people play it. Its the whole hype that goes along with playing the almighty Halo that has everyone so excited. Just sitting around with your friends and bonding I guess. Kind of like how a lot of people get together to watch the superbowl. 3/4 of those people aren't there b/c they wanna see the game. They are there for the commercials and socializing. I personally wanna watch the game, and I don't think Halo 3 can offer me anything drastically different from what I've already seen. All you bleeding hearts can disagree with me, thats fine. I dont hate Halo, I'm just getting sick of it. It just gets boring after a while.

i'm starting to get so anxious for H3. i have been playing so much gears, but the unbalanced nature, and glitchyness just bothers me so damn much.
not to meantion, going back to H2 for the rule of 3 reminded me how dated the graphics are, esp compared to gear's silky smooth screens. besides all the other goodies with H3,i can't wait to get the res boost the halo series deserves.
and NDA or not, the day the beta goes hot we all know youtube will be FLOODED with videos.
