Man I feel about for the people who will move to Montreal. Montreal is one of the worst cities in the world. The government spends all the money on language services to teach the English French instead of repairing the roads and other things. By the way I live there for my job and I have requested a transfer asap.

Technically, that is NOT true. Yes, the government heavily and happily sponsors french learning for the workforce, but it's because WE'RE THE LAST FRENCH HERE, Calisse!

I am a FFL (French First Language) by the way, and I think I have a pretty good understanding and mastery of the English language. Is it so hard to ask you folks to do the same? ( We DO have mandatory English classes, as the English people have their mandatory French classes. Some french aHoles suck as much in english as, I guess, #1 sucks in french).

We don't need you Scott and if you don't like it here, just take your bags and A Dieu! Bon debaras.
I love living in Montreal. I work in the game industry and the constant battle between giants like EA and Ubisoft is a bit anoying for the workers. A little competition might make companies take better care of their employees; not that we're mistreated, but new blood is good here.

I take issue with your comment, scott. Montreal is a teriffic city. Road problems? Seriously? You're going to bitch about road problems? EVERY North American city has road problems.

Montreal has more culture and history than just about any other city in North America. If you dislike the city so much, quit your job and move, or go grab a coke and a smile and relax a bit. Bilingual education is mandatory in Canada. Get used to it.

Doublepost::

I almost forgot. Would you really invest in new roads when the weather would make them break the same year they were built? Yes? Well go buy 'em then!

Tsk.

I truly believe that girls in Montreal are the most beautiful in the world. They are also very friendly and cheerful. It's your loss Scott!

I'm not going to get into the language argument. So on another topic...Is that Wilson from Home Improvement? I loved that show.
Does it really matter where they set up the studios. I'm sure they can set it up in any major city and fill up all the job positions.

Scott,

Please do us a favor and leave our city. We really don't want anyone like you here.

As an English Canadian I'll throw in my opinion on the language thing; Why? Why does it matter? Our heritage is Canadian, not French. We didn't just settle here. It's been awhile. Quite awhile. If the language dies off in every province but Quebec, why does that matter? English is the only important language left and everyone knows it. That's not a jab at any other language, and shouldn't be taken that way.

People that argue so heavily for it get the same response from me as Americans get for refusing to give up the Imperial system. It doesn't make sense.

As for Montreal, it's a fantastic city and was a pleasure to stay in. I got Ottawa, Kingston, Montreal and Quebec done all in one summer and it was a great trip.

What I don't get is why I had to take mandatory French classes in school, and I live in BC.

First of all, what does rampant pirating have to do with Eidos opening up shop in Montreal? That was a horrible way to start the article.

Second of all, Scott, dude. Don't ever come to Montreal, we do exceptionally fine without people like you.

JPRacer... you're so totally right.

And the whole language issue? Seriously, apart from 'ol bill 101, when was it all that much of an issue to pick up another language?

And to bring it all back to gaming culture, Montreal is the best place for these companies to come to. Where else are you going to find a cosmopolitan city similar to New York, yet with a European flair? Quebec City? I don't think so.

Think of Softimage. Think of how many shops here are in the post production business. Think of the fact that we have the second highest number of restaurants per capita in North America....game programmers gotta eat, right?
