God of War font used to tease 'unannounced psp title'
PSP Fanboy points to some rousing evidence that developer Ready At Dawn could be prepping a God of War game for PSP. Formed by an ex-Naughty Dog member, and stocked with former Blizzard staffers, RAD received overall praise for its Daxter platformer last year. On its website, RAD now hints at an "Unannounced PSP Title" in the works. While still blank, the info page for the upcoming title features a blood animation filling the site's top navigation box (displaying Daxter screens). The blood is followed by overlaid "Coming Soon" text presented in a familiar font ... The same font used in the God of War games...

I'm torn. It could suck that the game announced might be just a port. If it's not, then it would still suck since I don't plan on ever buying a PSP. Why can't they just annouce a PS3 version? I might actually consider buying one then.

He's an idiot, true. I don't see how anyone can say GOW sucks. It did 3rd person platforming-type gaming better than just about anything else of late. It took the Ninja Gaiden formula and made it fun (made it more over-the-top and easier.)
"Among the greatest games of our time" is almost as idiotic. It's a lot of fun. It isn't great. Lots of games are lots of fun. Did this innovate at all? Have a good storyline? Transcend gaming? No. As mentioned, it's no Civ. It's no Doom or Half-Life. It's no Super Mario Brothers. It's no Warcraft or Final Fantasy.
It's just a very well done game created by a delusional moron.

it doesnt matter how much it sold, okami also didnt sell well does it mean it also sucks? come on god of war got like almost perfect ratings by any real critics, and so did god of war 2 (ign gave it like a 9.7).

GoW games are beautiful for the PS2. They have great action sequences, and engaging plot, and a character that is over-the-top, in a good way. People can hate it just because it's a high profile game all they want, but that does not change the fact that it is a great game. Sure lots of idiots out there just like it because they can "rip shit apart" but it is a solid title even beyond the violence. The level design and puzzles in the game keep the pacing between fights and the artwork in the game makes it one of the more memorable titles the ps2 ever saw and most definitely the best SCEA put out. IF this franchise gets a PSP version release I would hope that it takes a different route than what has previously been seen. GoW for PSP should consider recreating the game while staying true to its world, much like Killzone did when it made the leap to PSP.

Well, knowing how Sony recycles fonts, it probably means nothing. One glance at the PS3 box and you think, "Oh a new Spiderman game must be in that $600 box!"

Now, i loved God of War and i cannot wait for God of War 2 (Not coming out in Aus til mid April! GAH!), oh and this Alex guy is a tosser, but to say it took Ninja Gaiden formula and made it fun would be incorrect. To start off, it's obviously most inspiration for GoW came from Devil May Cry, not Ninja Gaiden. Also DMC's and esspecially Ninja Gaiden's combat system is far supieror to GoW. On God Mode in GoW, flaws in the combat system really show through as most attacks are useless and you're best off sticking to the light attack combo and heavy attack combo (Plume of Prometheus often, too), and using grabs at any possible chance (grabs are insanely powerful). For instance one esspecially useless attack was Block+Square. This attack would often be initiated by mistake (if you release block and press Square a millisecond after, it would do this attack), once started it couldn't be stopped and you're are really vulnerable when doing this attack. The Blade of Artemis was also completely useless. Also, there were too many areas in GoW on God Mode that were just down to pure luck and not skill and were to infuriatingly frustrating.
Finishing NG on hard, i never really experienced such flaws, only the major flaw of the camera (I hope they've fixed for NG Sigma). All the weapons had their moments (but i mostly stuck to the Dragon Sword, Plasma Saber Mk II and Vigoorian Flail) and there weren't any instances which where down to pure luck.
Having said that, again GoW is one of the best games i've played and i look forward to GoW2 as much as NG Sigma, DMC4 and (hopefully we'll be seeing soon) NG2.

God of War is, arguably, one of the greatest games of all time and without a doubt the greatest example of it's genre. I didn't own a PS2 until a year ago (so I'm no fanboy) and it's only because of God of War that I own it now. Played and beat it at a friend's house and was so impressed I turned around and bought a PS2 and my own copy of GOW. It's the only game right now that would get me to buy a PS3. I have a PSP and a GOW title would be a "Must Buy" for me. Hope it's true!

Look. I'm in the game industry and have seen my share of crap out there, but games like God of War come out ratehr infrequently. GEars of War, God of War, Okami, Dead Rising, Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4, Ninja Gaiden, etc, all do something to a genre and either improve on it, or reinvent it. You can't remake a wheel into something non-circular, but you can take it and make it into something unique.
This whole fanboy thing is for the birds. If it's for your platform of choice it's a spectacular offering. If the series goes to another system, it's overrated. If it's exclusive to one console, you never liked it in the first place. Fanboys of all shapes suck ass. I happen to find my 360 does everything the ps3 does only as good if not better, plus if I was planning on going hd movie formats I'd chose a multiplayer stand alone instead. LG has one now. I can wait until others offer one. Am I a fanboy? No! I just can't justify a 700+ tax price of a ps3... Nothing is available i want for it.

Though I don't go as far as saying "it sucks", I do think God of War was pretty overrated. I played through a few times and wasn't very impressed with it. It was a bit fun but not as awe-inspiring as people said it was.
