Oops: Game Informer says Mercenaries 2 Xbox 360 exclusive

Just to clear up present and future tips. You know when you hear something long enough, you begin to think it's true? Well, that's what apparently happened to everyone in the chain of command at Game Informer when it came to the ongoing rumors that Mercenaries 2: World in Flames was no longer a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Heck, they believed it so much they just went ahead and made it an Xbox 360 exclusive in their March issue(as seen in the photo above). GI has since corrected themselves and, honestly, the error is totally understandable.
The whole Merc. 2 Xbox 360 kerfuffle started last July when a Pandemic representative said, "Right now, we have PS3 development kits and it's on PS3, and there is no announcement, but we're definitely considering Xbox 360." Then came the shots of Merc. 2 developers having and using a considerable amount of Xbox 360 equipment. Finally, there was the "oops" by IGN, when they announced the game for Xbox 360. This is laughably becoming one of the worst kept secrets in the industry.

Meh, the last thing 360 needs is yet another shooter... every other game released is an FPS of some sort. How about something different? Besides, this will be buried by the Halo3 hoopla.

Mercenaries 2 won't be an FPS. It's a GTA-like sandbox game...and the first one was pretty damned good, so I'm looking forward to it.

If you want something other than a shooter, get yourself a PS2 or PS3. (Or Wii.)

I noticed the error in the mag myself. It's funny actually because the article in GI doesn't even mention anything specific about systems, much less 'achievements' or something that would lead you to believe they were talking about the 360. I'd like to know if and when Mercenaries is going to 360, if it will be a ground up job or a port?
Either way, I'm getting the PS3 version for sure.

With the recent news of EA stepping up to publish Mercenaries, I thought it was obvious Mercenaries was coming to the 360 as well. EA can't pass up the 10 million installed base, they're too greedy.

Well, not to shoot the 360 theory down (because it IS likely) but using EA as your logic backing is a tad... off.
Yes, EA is greedy. But why didn't they port Stranger's Wrath to PS2? They couldn't ignore a 100 million installed base.

I heard it was cancelled due to poor sales of the XBOX version. Yes, a PS2 port coming AFTER the XBOX version. Then something less defenitive(sic) is that the PS2 was just not up to snuff for the game to be close to the original version.
