Earlier this week somebody over at Xbox.com flipped the wrong switch and activated what looked to be the next set of games for Xbox Live Arcade. Although they quickly course corrected and pulled the page, the URL for Alien Hominid HD is still active. They've also updated a few bits of information to the page since accidentally posting and used a spell -check. The earlier new and "imprived" graphics are a sure sign the page was activated too early. The only thing that's a little sad is Alien Hominid looks to be only two player co-op locally, which means no blasting away with your buddy on the other side of our third rock from the sun. So, we don't know if Alien Hominid HD is ready to roll, but it sure looks like Xbox.com is locked, loaded, spell-checked and ready to go.
Rumor: Alien Hominid HD on XBLA next week

That info is misleading. There WILL be online multiplayer - up to 4 on Alien Hominid minigames.

Erm, is it just me, or does anyone else find an "HD" version of a 2D sidescroller, originally intended for Flash, to be just a teensy bit silly?
I mean, hooray for Alien Hominid on XBLA and those who have a 360, but the "HD" tag seems superfuous and intended only to bring more attention.

Everybody is tossing "HD" onto titles like that, it just means it is HD compatible, not that it was designed with HD in mind in the first place. I mean Paperboy, Qbert, RootBeer tapper etc, making it so you can stretch the image to fit an HD screen isn't all that special. If you didn't die from just one hit I'd totally buy this, but if they didn't change that, I will be waiting for SOTN and Castle Crashers.

I find it hard to care about games and/or game modes that aren't four player locally.
This generation has been absolutely awful for that, too. Last-gen only Nintendo seemed to get it, and thus far they've fallen a bit behind (what's the deal with Wario Ware using one controller exclusively? If I have four and four people I shouldn't have to keep sharing, the damn strap makes that a pain in the ass.)
Co-op is making a comeback, thankfully, but it's mostly just two player, or four player online. C'mon, a huge chunk of gamers have friends. Hell, a huge chunk live in dorms. Don't make people sit and watch others play.

Psssst. The minigames of console versions were very very very popular. Think before you speak.

This game was balls on the PS2. Not much fun at all, and I don't get why it's getting ported to XBLA. Of course, I seem to be also one of the few not jazzed about "Worms," either.

With the Wii VC, we have a wonderful new surprise nearly every week about a title being released. With XBL Arcade announcements are made and then we have to wait for weeks...
I doubt this game is coming out next week, knowing Arcade's recent track record. I bet some goofball at Xbox.com hit the wrong button.
Why doesn't XBL Arcade release two games a week. What's the deal? Why couldn't they have one "classic" and one new title a week? They should be able to have a Wednesday and Friday release schedule.
MS really needs to get their act together and put more resources towards this goal. People should starting sending e-mails demanding it.....

With VC, it is a wonderful surprise every week, however it's a surprise a lot of us have seen before. Arcade is getting some genuine brand new titles every so often, or redone for the 360 Arcade at the very least. VC has no improvements over the fact that you can play wirelessly.

Strange, it says all that stuff about online play, but on the left of the page, it's clearly got Co-Op in an Orange box signifying Live support. Maybe they got the Spell-Checker on, but missed the fact checker?

All I want on the 360 right now is SotN. No more lameness on the Arcade, PLEASE.

I totally agree with this statement. Multiplayer with people in the same room as ya beats the CRAP out of multiplayer online.

It is either going to be this game or Luxor 2. The site for Luxor is live also.

This game was a blast on GCN, and I think the 360 controller will offer tighter control. It's about time that a challenging game is released again. Now we just need the sequel to Ninja Gaiden...
