I love my iPod, and I have a lot of respect for Apple, but what in the hell are people doing for 79 minutes on that website? It boggles my mind.

79 Minutes? Holy wow. My A.D.D. would barely let me stay for half that I'm guessing.

do they have message boards on Apple? If so, that would explain a lot given all the questions, criticisms, and praises ppl have for all of Apple's products, esp. the iphone.

Else, dunno. They read up on specs, product details, and comparison shop? Altho not quite the same thing, i've seen ppl shop for up to 6.5 hours straight on sites like Amazon, Ebay, and your typical chain retailers.

#4,

Funny you should mention that, Kotaku has a story about how Indie Devs can't get ahold of wii Dev kits because the big Devs have started snapping up all of the stock recently, seems its true that the devs were caught unaware of the Wii's popularity and are scrambling to catch up

Does this remind anybody else of Cartman just staring at the web site for hours at night when he couldn't sleep?

Alexa Web Search lists Nintendo.com under Playstation and Xbox.com, and also tracks interesting statistics.

@ Duscrom

So yeah, when did Nielsen become Nintendo? Because you do know it was Nielsen that brought this up and NOT Nintendo right?

@Avrum

Does it make my point any less valid?

Almost every other day it's some new sales chart, or sales number post, bragging about Nitendo's great sales.. meanwhile, my consoles sit and gather dust because another week goes by with nothing worth playing.Metroid and Mario MIGHT make it out this year.. still no release date on the first online Wii game.. How about Project Hammer, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Batallion Wars, Strikers, smash bros.... these killer 3rd party games that are supposed to exsist... SOMETHING to show that i didn't waste $300 on a Xavix/Gamecube/Emulator box.

And indie developers + Nintendo, do not make sense. They are a japanese company, they know nothing about garage development. Thier idea of a Indie company is 4 head designers from square start a new company.... The japanese is a culture that knows nothing about "new blood"

According to Alexa, Wii.com had significantly lower traffic than Xbox.com. It's not fair to compare Nintendo to Xbox, you should compare Ninentdo.com to Microsoft.com if you're going to compare company brands.

Thank you Andy for pointing out what should of been considered in the first place before posting this article. Completely slanted.... Comparing the whole Nintendo.com to just Xbox.com is complete BS.

I own a PSP, but I must say Nintendo has a nicer site. Sony's site doesn't have as much information.

Duscrom, you're saying that only American's can be indie developers, and only American companies support these said developers?

.....that has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Or I'm completely misunderstanding it.

Duscrom that's ridiculous. YES it makes your post less valid because you accosted Nintendo on something they had nothing to do with, besides being the subject of Nielsen's research.

Not only that, but don't get mad at Joystiq for posting the news about Nintendo. Nintendo's success doesn't have to encompass your enjoyment (or lack thereof) with your system. Many others are either enjoying their system or looking forward to doing so once they can find a system for themselves. Heck, I wouldn't put it past you as having an agenda for that matter considering the bitterness that just emanates from the last few statements of your post to begin with.

I mean, that bit about Nintendo and indie developers is downright BS and anyone who knows of how quite a few indieds tried creating content based on the NES hardware years ago (and some even now) would know that. It's quite obvious that you don't.

SImply put, the japanese culture does not open the gate for the state of mind that would constitute a garage Developer style of thought. In america, we are very much believers of entrapenuers (sp?).. and people starting their own buiesnesses. Japanese culture is all about the company, and loyalty to that company. Case and point... a few years ago When previous Nintendo CEO stepped down, he had a fund that would be used to help found new developers. The result? Brownie Brown.. the studio started by that fund and Square to work on Nintendo/Square games. They are indie in the fact that they aren't tied to a publisher.. but nowhere near that of a garage developer.

We'll see what the future holds, but Nintendo is known for being a tight company.

Duscrom just plain shut the hell up.

I'm sick of you newbie gamers who have never experienced a console launch in your entire fucking lives and can't seem to remember that there are NEVER many games released this time of year because they were mostly all released a few months ago for fucking xmas. I guess that's too hard of a concept for some of you to understand.

You must not have even a year of gaming experience under your belt because you seem to have forgotten that the 360 didn't have shit for games for the better part of 6-8 months and the PS3 ain't got jack.

Also what no one realizes is that EVERY apple computer using safari hits the apple site as the homepage, unless it is changed. I, having had a mac for about two years have never bothered to change this, and I know I've left it on the intro page for days on end. When a large number of macs are doing this it has to skew the results somewhat, especially considering that every apple store and CompUSA in the world is leaving these things on 12+ hours a day.
