It's DEFON, not DEFCOM, silly.

DEFCON is awesome, and I can't wait to hear all the swearing involved on Xbox Live in the few games around that encourages players to be a team-killing, back stabbing bastard!

"makes since considering the recent Vista upgrade of Darwinia and the similarities in architecture from Windows to Xbox 360 development."

What would make more sense is if Darwinia was on the Wii. The game is light on graphics and heavy on gesture-based gameplay.

Similarities between Windows and Xbox 360 architectures? Windows and Xbox definately. The only thing Windows and 360 have in common is the DirectX API. They utilize completely different processors (Intel x86 for Windows and IBM PPC for 360/Wii/PS3). They are about as similar as using OpenGL on Windows and pre-Intel Macs.

@4

XNA dev studio kits ease cross-platform development.
Seeing how DEFCON uses DirectX and now Darwinia does too, and how Introversion is (almost) genius at porting code, it should be all good.

As for the PS3 and Wii, it'd be quite miserable- IV is still much of an indie dev, and other than the easy work that they're gonna do anyway (Mac/Lin DEFCON- OpenGL), coding for the Flipper would be much different. And really, it's obviously not to these 2 systems' audience.

I really should get around to getting DEFCON. I loved Uplink and Darwinia, I've even got the little keychain Darwinian from the box version by my computer.

Heavy on gesture-based gameplay, you say? Not really. The only gestures used were for creating units, and that got scrapped in the update because it wasn't nearly as reliable as pressing *buttons*. ;)

I'd love me some Uplink on the Arcade. Especially if you could play it against other Live users.

@5 "And really, it's obviously not to these 2 systems' audience."

I'm not sure what that means. Since you mention IV being indie, maybe you imply that people with a PS3 or Wii don't like indie stuff? What exactly do you mean to say about owners of these other consoles?

DEFCON just simple wouldn't work on 360
