So when's Google going to blanket the whole planet in free Wi-Fi and put all ISPs out of business?

To be honest, the same thing could also be done without the limitations of Google's WiFi coverage through a service like Sprint mobile broadband and a laptop via Windows Connection Sharing. Granted, the speed wouldn't be as high (current speeds range from 512k-1.2M) but XBL would be accessible and some games (like UNO) would definately be playable. Within 12-24 months I'm sure mobile broadband speeds will be on par with home broadband speeds now, at which point in time full-blown wireless XBL gaming would be a possibility. Still a cool idea though.

Why not just use the wireless adapter?

As I understand it, the Xbox 360 isn't fully 802.11 compliant in that it can't travel from access point to access point on the same network. By isolating the Xbox on its own LAN segment, you get an extra layer of abstraction by letting the laptop worry about which access point is in use and what WAN-facing IP address you have. That would be why you couldn't use the Xbox wireless adapter.

Just because someone is knowledgeable and far more intelligent than you are does not give you a right to throw out baseless insults out of jealousy.
