To aargh and others:
Nintendo cannot be held blameless here on the battery issue.

Nintendo has to take some blame for me not using rechargeables in my Wiimote because the manual for the Wii explitictly says not to use rechargeables in the Wiimote in the Wii manual.

If N wants to even begin atoning for their mistakes here, they can begin by revising the manual for the Wii to encourage rechargeable use instead of prohibiting it.

I've been doing some research and I can't find this mouse on a mini bicycle in reference to this article.

However, I did find this hamster.

But Wii owners don't pay the bills (8-12 year olds), so why would they care?

I kid, I kid

The Wii is basically a mid-range gaming computer from 4 years ago! Ofcourse it has less power draw! Why don't they next do a comparison of how many pixels are being drawn, how many jaggies are getting anti-aliased, how fast the processor is running etc, stick that comparison next to this one, and tell the true story. What a Nintendo fanboy joke comparison. Might aswell get out a Gameboy and compare it's power draw to a PS2. That's basically the graphical differance between the wii and the PS3/Xbox 360. Lord

to #55 Lekko

Entirely likely, considering that someone has made a Wii laptop. (Ben something, I believe)

And on that note... I wonder how the Wii compares to the $100 laptop for the poor countries initiative, I know that the laptop can be charged by a hand crank, could a similar hand-crank-charging battery also power the Wii?

"24. It's a good thing the PS3 didn't have 2 HDMI ports. A lot of people would have been using a lot more power because most people would have had two TV's hooked up to them.

We were all better off with 4x3 aspect ratios as well.

10watts * 24 hours/ day * 16x9 = 34560 Watt Hours
10watts * 24 hours/ day * 4x3 = 2880 Watt Hours

16x9 has ruined power consumption."

Wow..You are an idiot to think that is the only use for dual HDMI. SRS system use two HDMI ports to have signal in and signal out. The PlayStation 3 could have been set up to send the audio signal through HDMI to the SRS and the Visual Signal to the TV using the other HDMI port. They're are serveral different usages for duel HDMI and only rich idiots would have two HD TV's link to their PlayStation 3.

So YEAH...the Wii uses a whole 10W in standby...whoop-di-do...that's less power than your standard lightbulb. Hell...a nightlight bulb uses 7W...anyone leave one of those on all the time?

TV's shouldnt be part of the comparison because everyone has different TVs...and if you want to bitch about standby power you better look up how much your TV is using when it's turned off. I bet the results would surprise you!
