Great, I'm now going to have to buy an X360 and Live just for this. :( I hope they port it over to other consoles.

Great interview. It sounds like they've done a really great job of moving the board game experience into the console.

And as someone who always goes for the 6s and 8s and winds up screwed by wacky dice, I'm all for the "whining about the dice" bell curve chart.

Now, about Carcassone...

Will this have any local multiplayer? I'd love to be able to play this on the couch with my girlfriend.

Andy Witmyer - must agree. I haven't played "plain" Catan for a looong time. Cities & Knights is where it's at!

It would also be nice if they did the 5-6 player variant as well.

its a shame there is no screen on the controller a la Dreamcast, then this game could have been played offline multiplayer.

sadly, I don't think its doable to have a hotseat game especially with the trading.

I wonder if they will be charging 100$ for it like the board game.

awesome game, but extreamly expensive. at the local store its 40$ for settlers, 30 for expansion, then 40 for knights, and 30 for knights expansion. 140$ just to play knights expansion seems a little steap for a board game.

@Draco: That's definitely the major problem with a lot of the good board games out there. The best suggestion I can make is shop around, and look for discounts. Barnes & Noble recently placed a lot of their board games on a 50% discount, since they were stocked for the holiday season. I picked up Richard Garfield's Robo Rally for 25 bucks USD (when it's usually $50). It's certainly worth a shot. Also, don't forget your friend, the internet.

Glad to hear the game is coming soon--I'm a big Settlers fan and can't wait to play on Xbox Live. As a veteran of pc-based Settlers online, I'm hoping that playing without trades is an option, though a 60-second turn timer sounds like a pretty good way to make rounds go quicker than "Anyone have a sheep?...Anyone?...Anyone?...How bout a wheat?"

This is the first piece of news that has made me seriously consider paying by the month for a game, much less, buying a whole X-Box.
I wonder if there are plans to make a Seafarers version? I'm surprised the interviewer didn't ask!

I've been looking forward to this for a long long time.

What could only make it better is if you could shrink down and run around the board using psy powers. Or have i just played too much Psychonauts?

Settlers without trading? Yeah, it's faster, but it's not really Settlers. Might as well let the computer play it for you.

You know there has been a number of free online games like this for some time Sea3D comes to mind. So to say they had any trouble is just _SAD_ because a couple of freelancers did it without troubles with trading included. Awesome port...just once again people paying for things that could be free...Though regardless I guess I'll have to buy it for the girlfriend to play on.
