R-Type Delta hits Japanese PlayStation Store

I would love to play R-Type on my PS3 - Wish these guys would get the downloadable games working on the PS3 instead of using it as some lame midwife to get games on the PSP... I guess I have to find the ol' PS1 'R-TYPE' CD somewhere in my boxes to realize my little dream.

Forget this crap. I'd rather play Time Pilot on Xbox Live Arcade!

I got the first R-Type on the VC and DAMN that shit is hard.

Let me tell you a story.

I grew up on R-Type 2 on the Amiga. I never had a SNES so 3 was out of the question. Never found R-Type 1 for any of my systems. I wanted R-Type Delta and Final so bad.
I got them. I cried at how bad they were. Then the VC brought me 1 and 3 and I was joyed off my face. Why the hell did they take it to 3D? I found the mix of 2D/3D in Sonic Rush and New Mario Bros to be weak too though.

you know, I might actually own a PSP for this feature if you didn't have to have a PS3 to interface with the service.

Just more sony bullshit to get you to buy more crap and inflate their numbers (for blu-ray too).

I'd totally hack it though. I'll take FF Tactics on the go or at night before sleep in the bed. Anybody know if the SNES emulators run at full speed on this thing yet?

Howcome Japan gets 5-7 PS1 games a pop, while the rest of the world only gets a trickle of releases? Gimme MGS dammit!!

You can hardly call R-Type Delta/Final 3D, ESPECIALLY when you compare it to the 3D transition Sonic has made (which is total butt, I'll agree). Games like the later R-Types are 3D in name only, and if that's you're biggest grief with the game I think you need some perspective.

A roommate and I played through R-Type III last week on the Virtual Console. I was surprised, because I always thought Super R-Type (the one I owned for SNES) WAS III, but whatever. I was -also- surprised because of how -terrible- the game was. It was Ikaruga levels of 'memorize this crap by dying a hundred thousand times on it and then play through using no skill or reaction times'. Bah, if that's what passes for a 'good' game, I'll gladly take Final.

What is Sony Smoking why bring these games out in the North American Market.

One thing I think would be cool if Sony was to give games that where a hit on the PS1 that only stayed in Japan English that way Sony could bring them out in the US then people could see why they where a hit.

Now this would be a smart move and I would like that.

Id like to see Einhander in that lineup, I loved that game. One of my favorite shooters of all time next to Gradius.

Sony, please make these downloadable games playable on the PS3...and please bring us more CLASSIC arcade titles. FOR THE PS3....

I don't have a PSP and do not plan on buying one. I had one and you let me down. I got rid of it.

I had r-type finals the last so called game for r-type, edios made it and it suck big time!! so bad I had to e-mail irem to ask will they make a new r-type game to make up for that weak sorry a.s.s game

and #1 instead of having a downloadable r-type sony and irem should make a ps3 version game. gradius 6 Im waiting for on ps3 and contra 3
