GameCube back from the dead (or Perrin didn't get the memo)

After Nintendo VP Perrin Kaplan said GameCubes were no longer in production this week, her co-worker at Nintendo UK refuted the claim while speaking to Eurogamer: "I can confirm that globally [emphasis added], Nintendo is still continuing production of GameCube hardware and GameCube software." Did somebody not get the memo? "What I meant to say is that... ahem... well, it's only a matter of time..."

Bad idea, putting this right after a string of bad Sony news... this is where the Sony Defense team is gonna vent.

Seriously, though, sometimes she's almost as bad as Tretton.

is there a requirement to be a figure-head for a gaming industry that reads: "Must only retain half of the information that you hear."

Maybe they're not producing in the US? She doesn't work worldwide.

Guess she also doesn't put cover sheets with her TPS reports either.

Almost as bad a tretton. Didn't she pretty much imply that the difference between the Nintendo consumer base and the Sony consumer base is that the Nintendo base isn't a bunch of gun toting thugs?

Nah, Fatass, I wouldn't say she's as bad as Tretton. Unless I've forgotten, she hasn't made any egotistical boasts about her company and its machine(s), she just doesn't do her homework.

Something else she goofed about was that Wii games COULD be region-free (like 360 games, where region-coding was optional and up to the publisher). Which was not at all the case.

Did you see the interview with 1up. I didn't even know who she was at first, and was wondering why 1up was interviewing some classless, foul-mouthed, bimbo. Stop the coked-out rockstar facade Ms. Kaplan, 'cause Courtney Love U R not.

Maybe this is the one case that Perry was right and someone else was misinformed. It doesn't make much sense for Nintendo to still be producing GCs. She's like Nintendo's version of...well everyone at Sony.

That's the reason why I like her. I can't think of anyone else in the industry who is like her. Well, Jason Rubin. Honestly, I'd like to go out partying with them one night - they seem like a blast.

Yeah, well, that reminds me of my job. The Director I support says some of the dumbest shit sometimes, things that are so blatantly erroneous I am constantly doing dmage control after every thing he says.

Then I get a surprised look from him and a, "is that right?". Oh.....God.....people in power know nothing about what is ACTUALLY going on.

I don't care if she's wrong, she SHOULD be right. It doesn't make sense to keep producing the GC. For Sony, the PS2 is still going to be their money-maker, so it makes sense to keep it afloat. But the Wii works as a GC and earns Nintendo more $. Go full steam ahead.

Isn't this the same dude who got caught up in the DVD Wii fiasco with her? I swear, Nintendo UK's just hatin' Nintendo NA.

Globally, as in, not just in the USA. What I gather from that statement is that in the majority of the world, they still make 'Cubes.

Why hasn't Kaplan been fired yet? This isn't the first time she's given REALLY false info.

She needs to be fired. George Harrison would be a nice replacement. I suppose he doesn't fit the "hip, young, [idiotic]" image Perrin Kaplan gives, tho.

Dammit, I posted this "news" on my website before it was revealed to be false! Congratulations, Perrin. You not only make yourself look like a boob on a regular basis, you make everyone ELSE look foolish by association!

According to NPD, 32000 units sold in January ain't too bad for a 6 year old console. Not quite a good enough reason to stop production on a profitable console, unlike the Xbox.

I suppose you're right. "Wannabe thugs" would have been much, much more accurate.

Every/every other time I see a picture of her, it looks different each time, some better than others.
