I've muted the crappy soundtracks on every EA game I've played. Sure, I can stand them for a sitting or two, but one can only stand so much emo-pop-punk

It doesn't, because those bands are garbage anyways. One thing I really appreciate about the 360 is not having to subject myself to the shit corporations think I should like.

Good to see Shiny making it into a soundtrack (of course I have a softspot for them because, for a while, I had to defend a character design of mine where a female character had a one piece swimsuit/bodysuit over some loose denim and the back of their album features the lead vocals in a similar outfit...).

And also, is Senses Fail really all that bad? I don't know. There is an upcoming concert featuring The Used, 30 Seconds To Mars, Senses Fail, Saosin, Aiden, Chiodos, and Evaline and wasn't sure if it was worth the $30 to see this show.

It's very rare that I find a game's soundtrack tolerable. Fight Night Round 3 (and to a lesser extent Round 2) made me want to kill myself.

I respect them for digging in the past a bit, with bands like Alice In Chains, and Lifetime is great, but the rest? Almost all crap. Some massively crap. Less respectable crap than in Revenge.

But, thanks to the 360, I never have to listen to these licensed soundtracks. I'll never put it over a game with plot, but for arcade games and licensed EA games? All my music.

sheppy - yes, yes they are. Potentially worse than Avenged Sevenfold in the last game.

But go see that show. $30 is a lot, and those bands are all generic makeup wearing Hot Topic idiots, but it's worth it to see how ugly Aiden is in person. Ugliest band going since Drag Pipe broke up.

The burnout crew may not pick the best bands... Obviously because Metallica and Tool are not there... But they make great choices in regards to fitting the style of the game. I never do custom on their games.

No, it's not ok. I don't want to hear whatever nonsense EA wants to push onto me. I want to hear music created specifically for the game (ie Halo, Zelda, etc), or my own music, or no music at all.

I do like that the 360 allows me to play music over my games, but it's still not what it could be. The original XBox had it right - the custom soundtracks were integrated into the game itself, not as a dashboard add-on. The CD player in GTA, custom entrance music for created characters in wrestling games, etc. There has been a disturbing shortage of integration like that since the new consoles launched. I've seen a few blips on the radar here and there (like Saint's Row's MP3 player), but even then they aren't integrated as well as they were last gen.

Well, I haven't seen a concert since Flogging Molly hit Canopy Club and I know I can't make the My Chemical Romance (Yes, I know, I know... but I like them) show up in Chicago. Once NIN hits the road again, they're an assured local show as is Manson. But other than that, nothing much happening in my area before summer. Wasn't sure if this lineup was worth the effort, especially after getting burned on the pure shit lineup of Nintendo Fuzion Tour.

God I miss the days when you could say "It's Friday, let's go see a show" and someone big would be playing locally.

Well it ain't great, but it can't be as bad as the mall-punk tragedy that was Burnout 3.

"Don't poo-poo their selections just yet!"

Uh, I'm assuming you mean "pooh-pooh".

"Poo-poo" means shit.

(Hey, that's okay -- one time in high school Spanish, I got a quiz back with "ha ha ha ha ha" written across it because I'd written "cago" instead of "caigo".)

"When did I get so old? I've only heard of maybe 3 of those bands. I'm only 24."

Not suprising, actually. Current market trends from record companies are chucking hundreds of "intro" CDs for $8-$10 each and waiting to see which ones catch on. Not a bad strategy because it has produced huge acts from the likes of White Stripes or Clap Your Hands Say Yeah but it also means they are pushing so many bands that it tends to get cluttered.

I mean hell, want a challenge? Try getting a copy of The Teddybears, Soft Machine from one of the Best Buy stocking biscuits. I finally had to give up and retreat to the internet once again...

Blah. Why can't we just get some good driving songs for a change, instead of the same old heavy pop punk shit? Gamers like me who are in their 30s couldn't care less for 95% of the bands on these games anymore. It always has to be EXTR333333M30RZ!

That said, I actually liked a bit of the Burnout 3 soundtrack, as it had some "fun" songs on it like "Come On" by Go Betty Go, etc. And EA didn't do too poorly on that last SSX game on the PS2 which featured the likes of Maximo Park.

Not everything has to be this Red Bull-fueled bullshit on these soundtracks.

Awful, awful, AWFUL!

That Shiny Toy Guns song is quite possibly the worst I've heard in a while... and I've heard a ton of crap new music, lately.

Yeah, Le Disko isn't the best on that CD but it still manages to draw enough influence from 80s pop for my tastes.

I think with the exception of Avril biotch, it looks like a decent line up! Trivium takes the cake for me, shiny toy guns is sweet, the Sword is pretty awesome (listenin to em now actually), AIC, Filter, Killswitch, LCD Soundsystem... really not bad.

@Rubang

I'm in the same boat. I'm 23 and I've never heard of Senses Fail or 90% of those other bands. Except the Fratellis. One of their songs was used for an iPod commercial during the Winter X Games.

I recently got Burnout Revenge, and I have never disliked a soundtrack so much. At least this has Alice in Chains, Filter and Army of Anyone.

To all you mid-twenties folk who have not heard of these bands: Thanks for making me feel COOL! I am 33 and heard 13 of those bands. However, my tolrance for them may be lower than yours.

Whoa, sheppy, a band had an album or a song called "Soft Machine?" Either way, that's crap. The Soft Machine I know made 2 of my favorite albums (their first 2) in 1968 and 1969.

I've always preferred the original Burnout 2 theme song. It's also played when you first start-up the 360 version of Revenge.

I'm pretty sure I heard that Avril song on the radio a few minutes ago. How can it have its "world premiere" in the game if it's on the radio in Canada two weeks beforehand?

I downloaded the song "Girlfriend" when it was "leaked" to the Internet a few weeks ago. It sounds like a blend of "Hey Mickey" and Veruca Salt's "Volcano Girls". I don't mean that as a putdown, as I guess that is exactly what Ms. Lavigne was going for.

i think it's absolute BS that EA would shove crap music down our throats without the option of playing custom soundtracks... i mean this is a racing game right, shouldn't it have more intense music? namco's maximum tune was insane with the blaring trance right behind my head... EA could use some hardcore, drum n bass, jungle... something with some speed to it other than pathetic emo/indie/wanna-be punk (like avril) tracks
