Confirmed: Alien Hominid HD this Wednesday
Following rumors last weekend that Alien Hominid was coming to Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday, it looks like the info was just a week early. 1UP has confirmed that Alien Hominid HD is coming to XBLA this Wednesday. The confirmation actually comes out of an interesting piece with Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360 and Xbox. Greenberg discusses the gaps in Xbox Live Arcade releases, but attempts to belay those fears by bringing up Boom Boom Rocket and *gasp* Wing Commander. Have you seen the footage for EA's re-envisioning of Wing Commander yet? Shhhh, just sweep that under the carpet and let's forget all about it -- or, at a minimum, be respectful of the Wing Commander franchise and change the name.

I know, I know. But I can't get upscaling to work properly on my TV tuner for my Gamecube and since that's how I usually play Alien Hominid, I may have to drop the money for the Xbox Live version again. After all, if I can't enjoy my flash drawn game graphics in HD, I don't know what I bought my 360 for....
*goes back to Crackdown*

I strongly disagree. I'm a huge fan of Wing Commander ( I'm one of the die-hard fans who regularly visits www.wcnews.com ), and this is not a game to sweep under the rug!
Within the confines of the style of game this is, it is a perfectly fine Wing Commander game. It is respectful of the series' past and continuity - it includes the same Wing Commander guns, missiles, races, and ship types. The developers are even using the correct fighter designations: "F-27 Arrow, heavy fighters are models of the F-44A Rapier II, and bombers are based on the A-17 Broadsword"

I'm with #8. All this means to me is yet another week of waiting for Worms.
And no offense #12, but the way your post came off I totally suspected you to be a plant at first.

@13 Ah, what a world we live in, where fans are suspected of being paid advertisers. ( dang unethical advertising tactics )
You're right, though. I'm being at least a bit fanboyish. :) I should probably hold off on the praise until I've actually played it. Still, as a Wing Commander fan, I'm excited.

Where are Worms and Catan?....why do they try selling us this horrible stuff while we suffer?

The new Wing Commander Xbox Live Arcade game is about as much a Wing Commander game as Tetris Attacks is a sequel to Yoshi's Island.
It may have the name of Wing Commander, it may have the items, weapons, ships, and even characters. But it's a multiplayer Asteroids mod.

Thank god. Really, MS is finally geting a AAA title on board for the Arcade for the first time this year. (and believe me, I love the Arcade..it's what I bought my 360 for, and seeing how they've been doing poorly so far up until now has kind of pissed me off)
Although last week's news of Ocarina of Time (and who knows what else...the inclusion of Vectorman would make it the greatest week ever.) hitting the VC next week make me feel delightful. I wonder what else it'll ship with?
