Killing us softly with a PS3 song

Like the Saint's Row musical, talent, no matter how biased it may be, deserves to be recognized. Using The Fray's How to Save a Life as a template, GamerCastNetwork's How to Kill a Brand stands as one top notch piece of PlayStation smearing. It's time for Sony to start showing some Killzone footage and make people go, "ZOMG!" And at this stage of the game, that had better be the reaction.

it that the xbox 360 has done way better that sony ps3, so much better that when comparing ps3 with 360 the 360 comes on top and the ps3 just sucks ass or the ps3 sucked ass so bad that when comparing ps3 with the xbox 360 the xbox 360 is a better console even though the 360 hasn't done as well as other consoles but when compared to a crappy, shitty, pice of crap console it just looks awsome?
thats one long sentence that gave me a headache

Gianni Gotti: Obviously Sony hasn't been doing anything wrong at all... it's just Microsoft with its millions of paid trolls, hired to slander the glorious Playstation 3! It's a conspiracy... a c-o-n...spiracy!
If you're expecting the mass market to come through for Sony, you're going to be sadly disappointed. I've been carefully watching this industry long before Sony became involved in it, and know just how fickle gamers can be when they're given a less expensive alternative to the current industry leader... who by the way, never stays a leader for very long. It happened with Atari, it happened with Nintendo, and it's only a matter of time before it happens to Sony.

Can you imagine how different this console war would be if Sony would have released a $400 PS3, and a $199 BluRay add-on? And before the PS3 bots jump my shit and say the PS3 NEEDS blu-ray for games, there hasn't been a game out yet (I know it's early, but still) that NEEDS the blu-ray, and from what I hear RFOM is a pretty itense game that still wouldnt fill up a regular DVD.

Its called being a fanboy. Its a severe disease.

If there exist truer words, I've not heard them yet. NintendoFanbot is exactly right. There's always someone who will say the things that you want to say, but tact and self respect dictate that you shouldn't.
Let the fanboys be, and use them to set yourself apart. They make the line between over enthusiasm and normal gamer very clear, so we should all be proud. They are a necessary evil in this community, and you all know damn well that, Sony fan or not, you found this video amusing.

The bluray bit... it's not being "shoved down our throats" and anybody who says that is a moron. Every successful console generation so far has INTRODUCED(!!!) a new format to hold games and such on, which is why the dreamcast fell. Games in a couple years are not going to be just 8 gbs that's incredibly closed minded, games get heavier as graphics get better, as levels get bigger, as code gets more complicated. It's why we switched from cartdriges to cds to dvds. It's the evolution of information.
It's also microsoft goal to milk the consumer for all he/she(yeah right[just kidding]) is worth by selling an incomplete system early on and making idiots shell out the bread for the next update.

People make songs hating the Playstation 3, but I don't see anyone making songs that they love the 360 or Wii, or any other system. It's not easy to afford a 600 dollar console... Sony knows this and they know that they're going to need a price drop... at least by December 07.

The PS3 has spawned a fucking religion. Seriously. Whereas (historically) someone who spoke out against the catholic church would be defined a heteric and excommunicated by its spiritual leaders - someone who speaks out against the PS3 or Sony will be labeled Nintendo/MS fanboy by the followers of this new religion. News not in favor of the PS3 will be branded "hearsay" or "biased" the believers, and history regarding Sony's attitude towards consumers will be rewritten.
Either you're with them, or against them.

Let me first say that I am amused someone calling himself TheMaster is calling me a pompous asshole. American Heritage Dictionary defines pompous as such.
"Characterized by excessive self-esteem or exaggerated dignity"
I enjoy debate, yes. But I ask you, of the two, wouldn't someone referrng to himself as TheMaster personify the word Pompous to much greater effect? Just a thought, just a playful thought.
And now for this...
"Oh yes, because Lik-sang should have the army of lawyers Sony does."
Well, consider this. Lik-Sang claimed they spent well over $30,000 in legal expenses during their battle with Sony. Now, keep in mind with Lik-Sangs battle against the union (Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo) as well as against Nintendo, they actually showed up in court. Now, should Lik-Sang actually be telling the truth of their legal expenses, you mean to tell me $30,000 cannot get a lawyer to appear in court? Bullshit. Hell, when I had to sue someone for stealing and selling some of my artwork, I had my lawyer show up in court and it ran roughly $700. You don't have to have an army of lawyers but if they well and truly paid $30,000 in legal fees to defend their stance, you'd figure they either got severely fucked or they're a liar.
And, it should also be noted, if you scream at a multinational company "fuck you, sue us" one would honestly expect the natural consequence of this stance and would be better prepared for the result.

Sony is ignorant, does not listen to their consumer fanbase, and has been doing a lot wrong lately. But then MS isn't poised to really win either if all they put out is FPS after FPS... I'd be happy if MS took over for #1 if they actually started putting out games other than shooters and sports titles. Where are the sim games? Puzzle games? quirky games? beat games? Singing games? Platformers? jRPGs? Classy games? Last gen showed me that xbox generally caters to action buffs, and really not much else. If they are serious about taking over, they really need to seriously start catering to more than one single demographic.

Geometry Wars is awersome but XBLA isn't just about arcade games, it's about original content too. You can compare them because in fairness...MS doesn't have a back catalog of 8/16 bit games to sell so, old arcade favorites is a no-brainer. With VC how can Nintendo NOT re-release their older titles when the casual market they are going after may have never bought any of the games on the original consoles they debuted on. Also VC isn't just for old Nintendo, SEga, Hudson and now NeoGeo and MSX games. VC is for original games too but Nintendo is dragging their feet getting dev kits out to indie developers. Another bonehead move on their part when they stressed they wanted to support the indie developer. But in fairness, it's still early and this can be fixed in short order.
hey, like I said. I think XBL/XBLA is a awesome service and serves it's fanbase well. Could it be better by providing better content on a regular basis? Sure. But as it is, it's still good. Also, Zelda OoT is one of the best action RPGs ever made. To make that available on VC is major. VC and XBLA have to be compared based on the content they provide. As of Monday, you can get ever major Zelda release all on one console. To the hardcore this doesn't mean much since we've either played it to death on 64 or we just didn't care about it. But to the casual gamer that may have loved Twilight Princess on Wii and want more Zelda to see what the buzz is about...OoT fits the bill very nicely.
Where XBLA shines is the fact that it gives you online support and leaderboard support
something that VC desperately needs and Nintendo knows it. They would be idiots to believe VC doesn't need these functions. Hopefully they will provide them in the near future. The overall interface of XBLA is better than VC even though VCs channels are awesome. XBLA stresses the idea of community which Nintendo still hasn't figured out yet. XBLA's navigation reflects this. VC is very intuitive with its navigation and the Wiimote makes it truly shine but if you're a single gamer living alone, good luck with the community aspect of VC.

I want the Sony and the PS3 to FAIL! Maybe next time for the PS4 they'll really deliver on what they say and come out with something great. Nintendo Failed also, they used to be on top, and now look at how the Wii is doing this time? Learn from your mistakes and come back stronger. No Console Manufacture has been on Top for more then 2 Generations. Well Sony did was with the PS1 and PS2, now like other before they are going down. There's no Reason why the PS4 can't be on Top once again. Everyone says just wait, all these Great things will be happening with the PS3. Why should we wait? 360 came out, Had a couple great games, and a great Arcade Game, and LIVE was great right from the start along with cool things like Achievements. PS3 comes out and what does it have? Nothing exciting that I can see. A cheap Blu-Ray player? Most people could care less about that. So what else? $600+ for future potential? Seems kind of silly to me to buy one for the the future might hold.

I'm gonna make me a Sheppy sized rant here, so some of you might want to, like make a sandwhich...or for your half-wits who complain about having to read, just skip it.
I'll come right out and say it – I want Sony dead and buried by 2010. Out of business. Doors shuttered. Gone! FINISHED!
Why? Because they've become FAR to arrogant as a whole. Many of their product lines are notorious for shitting out, they CONSTANTLY try to force upon us expensive proprietary formats, they put f'ing SPYWARE on people's computers, they haven't innovated in decades...the list goes on!
You occasionaly read things like, "A string of bad luck for Sony" regarding many of the things I just mentioned. That isn't bad luck, though. That's a string of stupid decisions they've made as a result of policies that are more pro-corporate and anti-consumer.
Cut corners and keep the price just as high.
When you're selling products to consumers, your first priority should be to consumers. NOT "Stock holders", as some are so fond of saying.
And don't anyone give me this horse shit about "not being a true gamer" if I want Sony to fail. Talk about disinformation tactics!
I want what could be viewed as a cancer to the industry's over all health GONE. What good have they done for the video game industry? Don't tell me they've provided revenues to developers or something. What a load. If Sony never got in, it'd be Nintendo or Sega or someone else who got rich off of Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy 7.
Not a single one of their consoles ever innovated. Not. One. They've improved innovations, to be sure:
Second analog stick? Great idea!
4 shoulder buttons? Nice...never were really necessary, but nice.
Build in rumble? Great idea...too bad they don't see it that way anymore, though, 'eh? (although I never cared for rumble, myself.)
Christ, you could at least throw a bone to MS and say they've innovated with online (even though we were playing games online on PCs like 10 years earlier)
At least when Nintendo was acting like Sony was today (and they weren't NEARLY this arrogant), they were still coming out with those innovations. 4 controller ports, shoulder buttons, analog stick, rumble, battery based save cartridges, the D-pad...another list that goes on!
I wouldn't want Sony out of the business of consoles if they'd done SOME level of good over the years...but they just haven't. They've only maintained status quo. That's good enough for some of you, but not me. I like to see things moving forward and new ideas.
So yes. I want Sony out of business. They've outlived their usefulness and it's time to let an electronics company that seems to care more about quality and it's customers rise.
So if Sony shutters, what happens to the people who work there, a few have asked?
The answer is someone else comes in and picks up where Sony left off with the demand fr their products.
I know Sony is a Japanese company, so it's a moot point, but just after the Civil War in the US, when the Robber Baron era began, the law used to be that a corporation, since it was/is considered a person, should be dissolved after (I believe it was) 70 years. If you go back and read things like the Federalist Papers and laws at the time, you can see the Found Fathers were concerned even back then about companies becoming too big for their britches, since it usually resulted in people getting screwed.
Once said corporation became 70, it dissolved and, so the theory goes, another corporation would come in or be established and absorb the works and demand for products.
While I'm on the more anti-corporate side of my rant, believe me when I say Sony isn't the only company on my shitlist. I'd also like to see Ford and GM sink, too, among others.
And no. I'm not some anti-corporate lefty (although I make no secret about holding liberal political views). I just want these giant companies to respect their primary audience since there's basically no way to hold them accountable for their misdeeds.
I like Apple. I like Nintendo. Toyota, Google, Honda and lots of others. Hell, even Microsoft is alright!
I care if corporations "care about me" (whatever the Hell that even means..). I just don't want them to piss on my face and tell me it's raining.
In my eyes, Sony has a lot more problems than just making a bunch of blunders with their over priced video game console.
I'd much rather the video game industry be controlled by video game companies. Sony and Microsoft are not (but at least you could kind of argue in Microsoft's favor). In an industry where software is ultimately king, I think it's much, much better to have the console makers be console makers. Their survival is more closely linked to the health of the industry and, usually as a result, we'd see more innovation and REAL competition.
Anyway, I'm done ranting about Sony for a while. It's gotten kind of boring, really.
I don't like Sony as a company based on idealist principals.
But who cares? If you like 'em, more power to ya.
Just play your game and try to enjoy it!
Oh yeah, and I found that video to be rather funny. It made me laugh out loud.

I don't like Sony as a company based on idealist principals.
But who cares? If you like 'em, more power to ya.
Just play your game and try to enjoy it!
Oh yeah, and I found that video to be rather funny. It made me laugh out loud.

Sony will fail this time around. The ps2 was $300 out of the gate ps3 is almost twice that. If Microsoft were to lower the price of the core and premium by a $100, it would be game over for Sony.

What a lot of the SDF fail to understand is the PS3 simply will not gain the same kind of market share they had with the ps2. Marketshare is the percentage of consoles out there. The vast majority of consoles sold in the ps2 rein was after the price was dropped significantly. Once the ps2 hit the sub 150 mark, the console sold exponentially.
It's the price that determines sales. Consider a Ford Mustang. Not bad as a sports car goes, but it's certainly not a Porsche or Lambourghini by any stretch of the imagination. How many Mustangs do you see on the road compared to Porsches? Think of the PS2 as the Mustang and the Porsche as the PS3. Simple math says the Mustang is more affordable to more people therefore it will sell better.
At best Sony will end up perhaps even with the 360 or the Wii. Wii will most likely sell the most because of the proce point and it's appeal to casual gamers.

Not bad, but too 360 fanboyish for me: a Microsoft picture at the end of the movie, and no Wii? Pfff...
Maybe Sony killed its brand, but Microsoft never even had one, at least to my eyes: both 360 and PS3 are too expensive, and mostly dedicated to the FPS hardcore crowd... count me out, while i'll have fun with my little unexpensive Wii and my sexy little DS...

LOL, really well done song about the current state of Sony and its PS3. Umm, umm, umm, ugh, umm, that was hilarious. Nice find Joystiq. On another note though, PS3 isn't "dead"...this industry is ever-changing and Sony has a chance stll, to bounce back and compete more head to head with Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360.

I keep hearing that PS3 has all this exclusive content and a huge number of games... but I haven't seen them. Sure they have a lot of games initially coming out for it, but... with some games, according to the developers themselves, running better on a 360 along with faster load times (sans PS3 HD saved loads) I have to just sort of sit back and agree, Sony is screwing up. I have a PS2 and am buying all the great games coming out for it, but the PS3... why? What games? Nothing very impressive there.

I have always like Sony they have always blowen me away with there things. PS2 was the best system out there. Its funny because most of you guys wanting sony to fail most likely never had a PSOne or PS2. When sony PS2 first lunches i sold almost 2 times more PS2's then xbox. Xbox had way more things wrong with it. So all you guys hating on Sony. You guys been with MS forever. People bought Xbox for Halo 2/3 of people bought it for Halo. 360 is a good system. People do your research and look you will find that Sony is better then MS. MS doesn't even come close to Sony. Hate me all you want i dont care. I have a 360 and be for i was like you guys wanting MS not to fail but to go under so sony could make better things and even infest in the sony. So hate all you want but your just lieing to yourself. I have no more to say thank you.
