Mass Effect prequel novel announced
Mass Effect lead writer Drew Karpyshyn has been working overtime, penning two novels that will tie into the Xbox 360 action-RPG trilogy. The first, Mass Effect: Revelation, is described as a prequel novel following Alliance Commander David Anderson as he uncovers a "sinister conspiracy" that spans a galaxy of uncharted worlds. Ooh, nothing like a lil' cliché sci-fi lit to get you in the mood...The Mass Effect novels will be published by Del Rey, an imprint of Random House. Revelation is due in May, followed by the second book Mass Effect: Revolution (TBD).

If these are half as good as the Halo novels, I'm there.

I just hope a character as extreme as Cmdr. Shephard can be conveyed properly in such a static medium. I wouldn't want to see the extremity shortened, by and means.
Cuz it's COMMANDER Shephard, GOTIT?

This WILL get me in the mood for Mass Effect.

I am so very ready for this game, I guess they can suck another twelve bucks out of me for a couple of paper backs, assuming this comes out before the game. I'm glad they didn't make the main character Commander Shephard for a prequel, since there's some suspense as to whether this new guy will make it or not. If it was Shepherd, no duh that he lives, he's going to be in the game. Gotta say, though, I'm not in love with Bioware's policy of making the main characters in their games so static.

It's written by the writer for the game, so I none of the integrity of the story should be compromised. And they couldn't put Shepard in since the character, though s/he has a background, will be mostly created by the player.

Hopefully they're as good as the Halo novels. I loved those. :3

I doubt Shepard will be in the novel, as the character is completely customizable - I believe BioWare is even recording a female voice.
The back-story (like Halo) is complex enough to write a good novel in though.

As much fun to read as the Doom novels, I hope.

Meh, not convinced my game-based books, although Mass Effect does sound amazing story-wise, plus it's the single reason I plan on getting a 360.
