EA announces My Sims for US release on Wii and DS

Remember that whacky, Japanese-centric version of The Sims that EA cooked up for the Wii? Well, they finally got around to announcing it for us! MySims will be making its way to the Nintendo Wii and DS this Fall and boy are we ever excited.

Ever since The Urbz (Serious question: Does anyone even remember The Urbz?) The Sims have been due for a serious makeover. Turning them into adorable, toy-like kiddies seems like a step in the right direction. At least until we get over that whole "Uncanny Valley" nonsense, anyways.

EA also launched a new website to promote the game where you can view an English language version of the original trailer. Check out the screenshots below and start hoping for some sort of WiFi Connect gameplay to pop up in the months to come.

Little kids or not, this one actually looks kind of interesting. It might get me to care about the Sims franchise. No one can say it's not original, at least... maybe EA is finally learning to not crank out the same crap over and over?

I remember a time when EA wouldn't even offer their games on certain consoles.

I remember a time when the word "exclusive" wasn't even in their vernacular.

Oh, but lets do crap all over this game without knowing anything about it. It's, like, totally cool to be all cynical for absolutely no reason.

Obligatory rules for online EA games discussion:

If the game from EA is released for 360, PS3, or PC then it is to be decried as unoriginal crap, useless franchise continuation, and just another product from and evil, greedy corporate entity that destroys everything it touches.

If the game is for the Wii then it is awesome that they are supporting the system and you can't wait till it is released because it will surely revolutionize gaming as we know it.

Well, if girls and women buy the Wii in droves(which, from the look of things seems much more likely more than ever), It will change the industry in a big way.

If anyone looks long and hard at the current Wii offerings, he'll find that it is overtly child-oriented. Just look at EBGames' Wii section. It looks like it's targeted at pre-school children with its pastel colors and beautiful, beautiful stars and little hearts! Oh well.

I guess actually considering about who they are marketing to (JAPAN is where this game's existence was first revealed) had no small part in it. Or that it doesn't look a port of the old PC version, huh?

To EA, this could be a new thing for them. To be honest, I really do hope that EA succeeds with this game in Japan as well as here.

But Nintendo fans aren't capable of telling the difference because they hate so blindly, m i rite?

Some people still don't realise how bad EA was before. EA has improved a hell of a lot in the past two years, whilst Ubisoft have taken over the "huge publisher makes shitty games" position.

I'm not saying EA is awesome, I'm just saying those of you who think EA's the shallowest of publishers are terribly mistaken.

I actually think this game could be very very good. Sure it looks childish, but who cares? In my opinion, as long as the game isn't buggy, and the game play is fun, its a good game.

I am under the assumption that we can put our miis in the game, if not, then I'm a little disappointed!

I think that's the only argument anyone made.. that the game looks 'cute'. But that's only based on the assumption that cute games can't be enjoyable.

Though people watch cartoons like Family Guy, the Simpson, See Lab 2021, and claymation like Robot Chicken.. and fail to see appearances do not dictate game value..

Nothing on that short clip says anything about whether these are kids or not, and most likely it won't be an issue. Cute and pop-ish sells in Japan, and obviously that's what they're going after here. As long as the public doesn't associate this with the Japanese anime/game fanboy scene (who've yet to wholly achieve social acceptance in Japan... and probably never will if their habit of buying figurines of characters that look like 12yrold girls doesn't stop) this thing could sell pretty well.

I think it would be great for online capabilities that the wiis has coming this spring. A great way to meet new people and exchange friend codes to play other games that require them. This game shouldnt use nintendos friend codes and just be a massive online game.

What can u do in My Sims that is the same or diff? i herd u do missions, but can u do "free mode" or can u have a family and go to work? sure doesnt seem like it. seems like all u can do is be friends with people and build a house. id really like 2 know, so it be great if some one would reply :D

i think that my sims is just like animal crossing BUT WAY BETTER.cuz animal crossing u dont build a town u move into 1 full of stupid trees.u cant choose your person witch is a down fall.

so plz just bring my sims out now!!!!!! why does it cum out in autum/winter time!!!
