If the 360 does motion controls to, then what is the point of that piece of shit wii? I don't want them to intrude on my exclusive motion controls, that's not fair.

"Because they are mostly likely caught up in the hype of motion controls/cheap price/franchises they can relate to from their childhood.

i had people play wii sports and swear they were going to go buy it asap. then they played it a little more and they said maybe sometime down the line. then they a little more and said they didnt understand why their arm movements werent exactly the same on the screen. then they started fiddling with different motions to see if it would still work. it did. they realized it was a gimmick and then all of the excitement went away. i think this is common with people that use a wii for more than an hour. then again it is also probable that people only play a little and buy it only to be disappointed like me."

I accept your constructive reasoning on this one because I agree that not all people are satisfied with motion controls on the wii and they're not perfect. A lot of the controls are pre maturely made for the games and some people just dont get that lasting fun effect for them.

Motion controls are bullocks. I HATE "shaking out the fire" in Resistance. Otherwise that game is fun and hell and better than anything I've played on the Wii. But yeah, add-on controls SUCK.

A better 360 is coming this year along with lots of triple A titles. This will be the Year of the 360, just wait. The DS took a couple years to catch on fire too.

And the Wii2 will come out even before the PS2 is discontinued. Remember when Nintendo made good, cutting-edge hardware?

#45 i agree. anything that MS would do, would be completely half assed.

as for nintendo, i am upset because the last system i owned from nintendo was the 64. before that it was the snes and the nes. those systems were awesome. for the most part (less with the 64) if it wasnt on a nintendo system it wasnt worth having. i didnt have the money to buy a gamecube last gen but i always wanted one, because i thought it was along the same line at their previous gen systems. now i have money and buying the wii wasnt a problem. so i was expecting the same sort of awesome games that were out on the 64,snes,nes, and i have been rewarded with excessive amounts of disney, ubi-ports and mini games, with nothing coming down the pipe but more of the same. to top it all off the graphics arent even REMOTELY competitive (all previous gen systems were). looking back i should have done more research and looked at it for more than 'wow it has motion controls' and looked at what they were promoting. but i was a nintendo fanboy and i just trusted them. that was a mistake. now i dislike them and almost everything they are promoting. its almost 100% garbage.

"But just know the company can never fully embrace motion controls on 360 a la Wii or PS3 without alienating its current 10 million users with their default old school controllers."

Just like they can never fully embrace HDMI without alienating their current 10 million users? If MS created a motion controller that was sold separately, it would be alot less alienating than if MS does not provide early adopters with an HDMI solution.

if MS added motion sensitivity, it would definitely be half assed vs. the position/spatial Wii functionality, but it would still be a major improvement over PS3 by also having rumble. which again, is their real market competition.

and to the name biter, try saying something substantial. whatever name you decide to use.

My point was and is that while single males (not necessarily men from the evidence in the previous posts) might like resistance and gears, some people want to play tetris. I like both. In fact I love bowling with my five year old son. Hell, I love watching him play baseball and hit a home run. I love it more than having some jerk on Xbox live shout racists remarks at me for sure. I still love Xbox live though.

Everyones preference is justified but the "hate" is really weird. IS my Wii kiddy? Sure, why not? I am at a point where it fits better for my current situation which is married with kids. I like trauma center and rayman. I like phoenix wright and elite beat agents.

Truthfully it's all because of the light hearted fun that I can squeese into a normally busy schedule. I still find time for some nba live and fight night too (xbox 360).

Oh yeah, and it's people like me who decide which systems succeed because we have the funds to say yay or nay when the kids ask for something. Kids will always be the bulk of the market and parents bought a good 80 million of those 110 million PS2s.

Surely you don't believe there are enough idiot parents who believe their child should have blu-ray just because they ask for it do you?

Nevermind that... kids won't ask for it anyways. Not until it's slim an under 200 bucks.

The beauty of all this is that I can take comfort in knowing my social life doesn't cling to wether or not a developer "makes it playable online".

Anyone who actively compares the Wii to the 360 and PS3 is missing the point in my opinion. The Wii is different, plain and simple. It is a different kind of entertainment for someone who has fun with different things. The 360 and PS3 are pretty similar experiences, and can be compared.

Why do Nintendo fanboys defend their consoles so desperately and furiously to even the slightest perceived insult? I just don't get it. The Wii is an adorable little thing and has some very cute games with neat ways to simulate button pressing, but it isn't like you will go to hell for not defending it against anyone who doesn't think it is super awesome. Just play your cutsie little Nintendo games and VC games and stop annoying us in every 360 thread on Joystiq. I mean, we seriously don't give half a crap about your system. Our interest disappeared the second we saw how crappy the graphics were. So leave your Nintendo defense in the Wii threads plzkthx.

That's just silly. Microsoft could easily embrace motion control without alienating its user base, just like Sony had embraced analog control ten years ago. See, people forget that the original Playstation debuted with a digital joypad back in 1995. It was only two years later, after the introduction of the Nintendo 64, that they decided to introduce the Dual Shock with its twin analog joysticks and force feedback.

Having said that, I firmly believe that motion control is an all-or-nothing proposition. You either jump in with both feet like Nintendo did with the Wii, or you don't do it at all, like Microsoft has apparently decided to do. I don't think motion control would offer any appreciable benefits to the kinds of games available on the Xbox 360, so why include features your system just doesn't need?

Right, but that's like saying that a DDR pad or GH guitar wouldn't be any use for the current games- it would be an optional accessory for people that like the games that are made especially for it.

If MS released a souped up 360 version of Wii Sports with better graphics and more advanced motion detection bundled with a 'Wiimote', it would sell 5 million copies in a month.

Do this instead: FIX THE DAMN D-PAD!

I can't stand those "elevated" D-pads where the whole thing presses down at the center. The one on the 360 is just as useless as the one on the Jaguar, if not worse.
