As GDC rapidly approaches, GameDaily's James Brightman sat down with conference director Jamil Moledina to discuss possible PS3 announcements among other things. According to Moledina, PS3 owners will be "very happy" come March 7 after hearing Phil Harrison's keynote. "Not to be coy but you'll just have to come to his talk" he told GameDaily. "All I can say is that I stand behind my ['very happy'] comment."It's likely Moldina has the advance on Harrison's keynote because, after all, it's his freakin' conference. And being that Jamil isn't on Sony's payroll, maybe PS3 owners do have some legitimate good news to look forward to next week. To say they need it is an understatement.

Actually, Harrison seems to be the most competent of the Sony higher-ups (though that isn't saying much).
@LR #7
Why would a price-drop make PS3 OWNERS happy? I'd think it would be the opposite.

But you're right, this apparently is something for those who already own a PS3.
....still wouldn't mind seeing a rebate though...

As for the good news, it doesn't really matter to me, I'm still enjoying the games that aree currently out on the PS3 and I'm playing through the original God of War game again in anticipation for the the 2nd. To the more moderate writers out there that don't post racist remarks, tell others to die and wish a company to fail, enjoy your games. I know that those people are far and few on this site "News" site. ;)

Seriously, I'm sure the announcement will be good, but hyping it up like this is just asking for a let down.

The Sony Defense Force had better be gearing up now, because this'll probably be a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE disappointment.

Get ready for a let-down $ony Fanboy's

Here goes:
New annoucement on some new downloadable game(s).
He will ramble on about sales numbers and how they are the best, contrary to reality.
New firmware annoucements for either the PS3 or PSP, neither of which will actually improve gameplay.
Maybe some new IPs.
Definitly a annoucement of one of their old half dead franchises getting a PS3 exlusive sequel. Something like Twisted Metal or Crash.
Some more numbers talking, none of which make any sense or are blantently wrong by several months.
More on the PSP-PS3 connectivity.
I go there and say that he will announce a PSPLite.
PSPLite will have DS Lite functionality, twice the price.
Talks about some PS3 addon that mimicks the wiimote's capability to point at the screen.
Some more PR bullshit on how the Play Station Network is the best out of the three.
Either Japan or America will lose PS3 backwards compatability like Europe to cut costs.
No release dates will be announced for games that people want.
A third version of the PS3 that is either has no features for less or a feature rich version that nobody in their mind would buy.
Something about how the PSP is expanding the market where the DS isn't.
Looking at the title of his speech he will talk about the 3rd generation of gaming, even though we are currently in the 7th. Someone should tell him that he is off by about 12 years.
Well that is enough for now. See you guys in a week.

What firmware update, ever, has actually improved gameplay?

In-game footage of the alleged Bioware project would probably be hype-worthy. Perhaps showing a game being played on PS3, not footage that we're supposed to believe is real, that can compete technically with or surpass Gears of War or Mass Effect would also be pretty exciting for PS3 owners.
I think believing the system you waited for would graphically blow away the one you could have had a year ago, only to have it looking worse graphically, has really eaten and the Sony fanboy psyche. It used to be "Gears shmears, wait until you see some 1080p PS3 action." Now it is like "yeah, but my PS3 has a better hard drive and HDMI, woot." There is a big difference, as if Sony fanboys have conceeded their system is inferior for games. Funny to watch happen.
Though I am not a PS3 owner, I still want to see it get some sweet software so there are used games to play when I eventually do get one.
